Is there any good reasom to take the tanning or textile skills past 80?

    I understand that taking the refine materials skill to 100 is a good idea, but the main skills seem to provide little benefit above level 80.

    the only one you'd want to go past 100 is the skill that gives you extra product 2 skins instead of just one etc

    There are 2 reason to take a base crafting skill higher. First if you are not at 95/97% success rate, you will notice the progress bar moves faster as you reach the higher chances of success so you can craft more per hour or minute or whatever. Secondly, your exceptional chance increases as you increase your base level as well. While getting an exceptional roll does not give you extra mats or anything like that for tanning/ textiles, it does give 5x the exp.

    the 5x xp is nice, and for the cost in xp, its worth it

    I agree, it's well worth it. If you are here for the long haul, the extra xp you gain with all the extra exceptionals will add up to a big difference eventually.
