Cora is talking about having death shield and using the potion, which doesn't cancel your shield.

 

I meant the potion effect, which is essentially a crappy air shield, could stack with an actual magic shield. Unless the potion also cancels shields. I haven't gotten the recipe yet, so I don't know if it does or not.

I wonder how/if it stacks with airshield. Would it add up to 2-point-whatever, effectively making things worse? Or would it subtract your air shield, making the potion less crappy?

 

Yay! After about 4 hours of grinding, I finally have enough essence to make a potion. Now all I need is the recipe. Anyone want to trade their Potion of Shadow Form recipe for my Shadow Poison recipe?

 

I guess that's a no.

 

Given how rarely they drop, I wouldn't expect anybody wanting to trade for a while.

 

Is anyone still getting silly damage on tamed pets? Just had a fight where my bear was hit 4 times in around 15-20 seconds of combat for 2000+. The highest being 2222. This doesn't seem to be the cone attack but melee hits. Have 130 tame hide toughness and 120 combat training + all common artifacts. Tried a few different pets as well. Also is the shadow attack supposed to be a cone? It looks like it but I still get hit standing behind the mob and back a fair bit.

 

No, but I don't use pets. It might be a side effect of the corruption curse they have? The tooltip doesn't really say what it does. Maybe in keeping with the shadow/moon theme, it works like fireflies or something. I've only ever been hit for maybe 200-300. But I'm not melee, so I'm not sitting there letting them stack curses on me.

In other news, Chris replied on Twitter that today's patch will have a boost to non-shadow essence loot. Unsure what that specifically means, but hopefully not getting a rare drop will sting less.

 

It's probably the same bug that affected avatars.

I ultimately got all three recipes from grinding (and only 15 essence in the same amount of time). Thanks though.

 

Did a lot more testing yesterday and whatever it was kept stacking until my pet was taking 3k+ hits as soon as the fight started with no corruption effect on it before initiating combat. If I unsummoned it and then resummoned hits went back down. Hopefully it gets fixed although at the moment just the unsummon/resummon trick after each fight works.

 

The pet didn't have corruption on it but did you? Still think it might be related.

 

No well no icon anyway. I even sat around for 15mins after the first fight and then as soon as I initiated another fight the pet started taking much bigger hits. Unsummoning and then resummoning the same pet clears it. It's too repeatable to be unlucky RNG so something is staying on the pet even without an obvious debuff.

 

Does Purify have any effect?

 

No I did try that.

 

Killed a few shadow mobs in normal mode, loot still crap, like 8 g and corpse wax
Don't see any difference with new patch

 

Yeah, I was... very disappointed. I tweeted Chris asking him to change it. I guess he did? I think maybe I get a little more corpse wax now? On the one hand, I asked him for something, and he did something, so I'm happy for that. On the other... It's like getting a crappy Xmas present and having to smile and be, "gee, just what I wanted..."

 

Weird... i spent about an hour in there earlier, and was getting the same lot as before, but maybe a little more corpse wax. Then I went back to grind for those flippin' recipes some more, and now they're dropping potions and scrolls too. So, better. Not good, but better.

 

You have to maximize the value of your loot. Save the venom sacs, craft paralyzing spider poison then sell it to the magic merchant in Owl's Head.
