Can we PLEASE get dueling pits for a ladder system?

For those not in the know, dueling pits were a feature that all of the best UO servers offer. The main attractions of a dueling pit are:
    1. A contained area for players to duel without outside influence to a match.
    2. No resource usage (pay per use pits would enable a gold sink).
    3. Levels are capped.
A fair dueling area enables a real skill ladder develop and players to compete, this creates a stickiness the game is currently lacking, nothing is hard except PvP. These areas can also be expanded to 2v2, 3v3, ... and so on until the servers can't handle it anymore. Lastly, I think it is important to give players tools to test more combinations in a meaningful way and establish more balance between the skill trees. In the current state how can any duel be treated as valid data for balancing analysis unless both participants have the same amount of XP?

There is no meaningful PVP in this game on even a weekly basis. No one wants to discuss how vastly different someone at 120 adv lvl and 130 really are. If a level based system is implemented, how long until until you see people gaming the system and having characters locked at certain thresholds to own the entire bracket. At this stage, to drive PVP, implement a cap and get people fighting, testing and improving. Not only is there absolutely no incentive to actually PVP, there is no standardized rules or ring or starting procedure. Cap everyone at 120 for each skill, allow no skill gain, no armor durability loss or resource used and let people truly try out new combinations and builds.

Currently if I want to duel someone, I have to invite someone to a neutral location or catch someone at a PVP zone and hope no one else jumps in. Then I have to wait 5 minutes while they swap through 3 decks buffing and chugging potions for a duel that lasts 60 seconds. Take a page from UO Gamers, teleport us to an exclusive ring where we can't be interrupted, start a timer and let us fight to the death. You can adjust the starting timer to how much buffing you want to allow, but a major problem right now is the buffs take longer than the fights. Currently some people are spending 5 to 10k gold on potions ( greater resist) per duel and acting like they truly are better players.

You can test new builds without risk on QA or offline and pump your skills however you want, no need to waste dev time on such things.
Have you ever pvp'ed outside of duels? players lvl 120 can kill lvl 140... shroudbert bot has a lvl 116 at top pvp ranking.... wtf are you on about?
If you cap everything at 120, good pvpers will just get everything to 120 and swap decks to counter players instead... it wont change a god damn thing. Bad players like you will still lose.
This game needs factions, not stupid caps for the love of god, read the damn forums, we have been over this a billion times...
If someone is taking 5 minutes to buff, there will lose all their buffs..... you clearly dont know wtf you are talking about.
The dev were working on a pvp queue... but guess what took precedence? And all we got were promises to have the LFG become a duel network... which it already is............................... OMFG woohooo

Capped lvls wont change a thing. It will just make some builds better to chose than others. And if you only cap skills, that will give players with all skill at the cap an advantage because we arent limited in decks anymore.

Would love to see a TRUE ladder system that doesnt influence the player's stats and push lower lvls player to strive to be higher lvl to win. But with soft caps, once you have a good amount of exp, you can be very competitive, especially more so with certain builds. Capping lvls wont help bad pvpers.

Beautiful ad hominem attack, your emotional intelligence is way lower than your PvP skillzzzzzzzz.

Never said it's to help bad pvpers, rather to explicitly target casual players, giving them an area to compete and play fairly. By all means have an open world PvP ladder and a fair dueling pit, I know which one I'd put money on being more popular.

Make the ladder(s) by area and we can start this experiment.

Something I have a hard time understanding is why there is no form or regulated pvp, like regular tournaments where people can only use gear purchased by NPCs or ones where people have a spending limit in a randomly selected town.

Just seems that so much of the PVP meta, and what keeps some people from it, is the expensive gear - if there were random times when a random NPC town would come under an epic siege and the town guards were defending against invading cultists - then the whole actual town turns into a live PVP zone for a span of time until a timer expires or a winner is declared.

Something that could be used to test and balance the meta would be if there were two types, one of which would eb normal pvp, and the other one that happens where people can only spawn in on the side of the guards or the cultists - dressed as one of each side and with a base set of gear and reagents with options for a range of classes.

This way the devs could witness the skill of relative player vs player battle with the gear not being a swaying factor for any observers, nor a dissuading factor for people who want to pvp but are turned off by the idea of expensive gear or potential expensive oracle costs.

This battle arena would then literally be the cities people become attached to or may eve have houses in, making the battles more enjoyable to both participate in and view on streams.

If you had to use NPC made gear, mages would be complete garbage, and melee/ranged would be super strong.

Every period [month or quarter] adjust the bottom used skills up 0.25% and the top skills down 0.25% until a better balance is achieved and then maybe only do it in 0.1% increments.

Sounds like you guys want to ruin the concept of working hard for your gains and want to instill a first person shooter ideal in a game about character development. This isnt a first person shooter. Its an rpg. Whats the point of playing and grinding if its for nothing? In life there are winners and losers. If you are fed up of being a loser, do like everyone else and work harder. The playing field is absolutely equal to all. If you cant make it, dont ruin it for the rest.

How is providing options for people who want to get into PVP and not get repeatedly aced by people who have already put in thousands of hours a bad thing? How you you propose new people get introduced to PVP? Just get ganked over and over and over again until they loose all interest or join a guild willing to power level them past the point where quests are enjoyable as soon as they join?

If you want to reign king of PVPers, that's fine, but it shouldn't come at the cost of dissuading people to PVP because you have literally years and thousands of hours of head start in a system that also has people who are former developers at max skills.

Dont fight those poeple. Just fight the people you feel comfortable fighting with. They worked hard and learned the systems. You obviously didnt if you are losing to them. Or perhaps you are using a build that is countered by theirs. This isnt a "problem".

New people simply get introduced into pvp by learning it slowly and painfully.

Stop disregarding soft caps and figure out the counters instead.

Level caps and NPC made gear are NOT going to fix any of that. This game isnt about levels or top notch gear, its about your build, where you spend your xp (not how much you have), player skill, and your deck.

And this is why almost everyone I talk to has no interest in PVP. You seem to think that PVP being accessible and tiered with options to approach it is a bad thing, so i think we are just at an impasse on what makes things fun for new people in terms of time investment vs reward.
