Stance duration

    I love the combat system. Making it easier with long duration timers defeats the purpose of it’s fine design; you’d be making a system like other games where everyone buffs one time and enters combat. Then ask, why do you need the buff in the first place if everyone has them active? If they have long duration, might as well play a first person shooter.

    60 sec to 120 sec increase is nice, but I wouldn’t add more or make it permanent.

    A skill based game requires the player to manage their skills and activate them accordingly and at proper time, it’s what makes sota interesting.

    • Stances all have heavy negatives.
    • Stances are mutually exclusive.
    • Charging a stance does nothing except add heat to the glyph.
    • Stances (except Spellbinder Stance) have no focus cost.
    With all that considered, having to constantly click a glyph to keep a stance active does not add any depth to the game. At least the stances in the tactics tree should be toggles.

    [edit] However, Berserker's Stance does remove a slowing effect. In that case, clicking it is valuable.

    I like the idea of a stance toggle, but to balance it I think, like toggling pvp, swapping the toggle or turning it off should have a negative consequence in terms of cooldown to reactivate or swap.

    Understanding that there would only be the rarest occurrences when players toggle or turn off their stance, this would also necessitate a reason why a stance should ever be turned off - perhaps a very slow focus drain.

    Berserker's Stance already has a HP drain
    Spellbinder's Stance could have a Focus drain
    Defensive Stance could have a movement speed debuff

    Part of Spellbinder is a focus regen buff. Wouldn't make sense to have it drain too. Plus, it already has an armor debuff. Defensive has an attack speed debuff.

    Not really a fan of toggles for these, I'd hate to die because I went AFK and forgot to turn off berserker. I'd rather just see the duration around ten minutes or so.

    It already has an attack speed debuff.

    I switch to Passive Stance when I get into trouble.

    Ya, I mean I would just keep a supply of food, as I already do, that negates the health debuf of berserker stance.

    For for me, I really don't see why I would ever turn it off except when I am cooking.

    guild wars 2 and its micro duration buffs are that way---->
    Eso with max 21 sec buffs are that way--->
    [insert any game with crappy durations on buffs]

    we're not talking about the utility buffs(non stance, non shield, ignite), like the 4(4!!!) shield buffs, 5 heavy/light, 2 tactics buffs and whatever else sub and focus are packing
