    Prologue: Sforza Messenger

A mysterious Automaton appeared in Mediolanum, a lovely town next to Owl's Head in Hidden Vale.
He brings a message from the governor Tristano Sforza. Talk to him!
You can find him in main square at first row lot in front of first devotional.

    SotaTales Episode 1:
Tharsis Vrul the Daemon is back!

A player Made Interactive Quest: explore new Britannia, solve puzzles, gather resources, catch special fish, craft and use new powerful artifacts, kill mobs and more...but most importantly save new Britannia!
For high level player (or very high if you are unlucky)
Duration: several hours (you can even never finish if you are unlucky)

    UI
-Click on heraldry logo to open dialogs window [image]
-Section for dialogs (white colors) and section for actions (yellow color)
-Interact with quest chars and environment through local chat [image]
-Special inventory for quest items [image]

    Some info/tips:
-Progression is saved during quest and you are notified by "Progression Saved" in lua chat log (blue color)
-the quest is client bonded, you can switch between chars and accounts to progress
-use Pot Signposts to move faster in Mediolanum ("Sforza Castle" to meet governor and "Town Boundary 4" to meet Markus)
-you or your pet must kill mobs to progress where required
-to change font size type in local chat !stfont # (ex. !stfont 20)
-to reset windows positions on screen type in local chat !stresetpos
-to restart quest from the beginning type in local chat !restartep1
-to close dialog and inventory windows click on "down arrow" icon
-to unload script type "/lua unload"

    Download here:
    https://drive.google.com/file/d/1EDrkoX2mTVHsKWHrbWUfUMO1wcmlKb8z/view?usp=sharing

    To install:
type in in-game chat "/datafolder" and unzip sotaTales.zip in Lua directory
type /lua reload or restart client

    v1.0.0
    -first release

It's just an experiment, I know there are limits, most of all it's client based (don't spoil yourself!) and second I can't reward players with xps or items at the end of the quest yet....but governor will be very grateful for your success...
Anyway I hope you enjoy it, let me know!

    Thanks

    Tristano Sforza
    Governor of Mediolanum, Hidden Vale

what a neat idea! congrats on its release. would be neat to have a framework for this kind of thing to allow others to do the same. i hope there is some dragon slaying involved in your quest :)

I tried it for a while, I must say its pretty impressive.

    Now my question. :p

I relogged an alt character, but the lua script is still running. How do I turn it off?

    Thank you @Nick
You can close the dialog window pressing down arrow icon and reopen it pressing heraldry button. You can also type “/lua unload” to unload lua script

Thanks! Could you add the /lua unload somewhere in your tips? Might be helpful to clueless players like myself. heh.

I'll give feedback after I complete the quests. Might take a while though. :p

    @Tristano Sforza
    Some thoughts:

-Would be better if we can click the options on your dialog instead of typing on the chatbox. I supposes its a limitation right now.
-How about using some conversationalists in say... a tavern in the middle of town to provide more lore/character background behind your quests. makes it more immersive.
-Maybe some scatter letters or books on tables with more lore.
-Would be nice if you have a button to open a quick help dialog showing all the tips/info.
-I have an issue with moving the dialog box way too right, can't close it and have to reset the position.

-I find it incredible that you can use PVE zones like that.
-Loving it so far. Will add on to feedback as I go along.
-wish chris will hire you part time to improve the lua thingy.

@Cordelayne, care to give this a try? Am sure any feedback would be good. Just do the first few chapters will do. Won't take too much time.
@thradia, an article on this in avatar express will be great. :D

    thanks @Nick for feedback!
-Click instead of typing: it’s not a limitation, I am evaluating it but I think typing is more “rpg” than clicking. Maybe I will add buttons for use and search actions but will leave typing for dialogs...
-conversationalists: they are quite new to me, I am ezperimenting right now. I added a villager/beggar in crafting stations lot, I can surely add some lore. Now you can challenge him in a mini game :)
-letters and books: nice idea, will add especially in Markus home
    -help: I can do it
-moving issue: I can add a move button on the left border too

    Thanks,
    Tristano

I see. Its the ! that I find weird.... maybe both?

Just !@#$#% costly @Elgarion, can we have a bunch of them at a lower cost?

What I find lacking is the amount of lore... but being ver 1.0 I can't expect you to do more than what you have.

I was hoping when I entered the tower, I have dialog describing the scene, then pointing me to the library and giving more information. Would make me feel more immersive if I had to search level by level to find tidbits of information than just heading to the final destination. ie. something to make me spend more time in a scene. Not just zone in, finish up and zone to next scene.

Can what you do in lua be used in player dungeons?
Can quest line have multiple ending, like those good o' choose your own adventure books where you have multiple endings.
How easy is it switch from one lua to another? e.g. if you have multiple episodes, how do one switch from one to the other? or is it a matter of replacing the lua files?

Sorry, so many questions.... wonder if the other role players like @Thoryk Omara can use your techniques to create stories of their own in their own towns.

I'll be doing a round of crafted ones and ones that are simply out-right quest rewards sometime soon. In total, there should be around 7-8 non-premium conversationalists after that round. Keep in mind, some will trickle in once Sannio's planned quests become available in new EP2 scenes.
