It is important to note that this is not intended to be some kind of binding contract where we promise we will hit each and every item mentioned. Rather this is just intended to be a vision of where we believe we are headed for the next year. Items will move around, sometimes slip, or sometimes move earlier in the schedule, In some cases we might decide that an item no longer makes sense once we start digging into to it and we might remove it.

What about Lamech's Bazaar's scaling modes? What about Spindelskog's scaling modes? What about... You see, those scenes did not have this little "Get out of jail free card" when talks about fixing their loot were going on, yet they still don't scale correctly there?

I mean that one little quote is waved around so much that it almost gives the team a true defense to actually never work on loot ever considering you will simply jump in and post that whenever someone asks/reminds them that we are still waiting on this.

It's not like the ideas weren't thrown at them non-stop, it's not like they have shown/talked to us about their ideas, it's not as if there was anything going on with work on actual loot, but hey, The Breach, a scene in which you can fight a single wave of mobs for 34 minutes and receive... oh wait I forgot what you receive there... Or Lord British's Castle, which was supposed to be challenging, which instead simply has 2 enormous Obsidian golems at the end with an easy time through the rest, or Scaling Scenes that only scale half way... You see, new content is added, stuff we never asked for, stuff that wasn't in their roadmap, so the fact that that roadmap is more than 50% ignored, yet every time someone asks if there is any progress concerning loot, this wonderful quote just swings back and forth in our faces.

I know you try to help Anpu, but sometimes, that one quote is possibly the one thing that can get this community riled up, because it is the one thing that is true in this game : "Items will move around, sometimes slip, [...] In some cases [...]we might remove it" (took the liberty of only leaving the true and important parts of that quote, so we can finally be honest with ourselves).

Yes, all that is true. But if you use the phrase "this is the year we finally fix loot" after years of complaints about loot, you don't get to play "don't lawyer me bro" ten months later. As Violet pointed out, throwing this in the face of every player that mentions something not getting done is weak. When a dev comes out and says "this year we're finally fixing something people have complained about for years" then fails to do anything after ten months, how are we ever supposed to believe anything they say?

Regardless, they have two months left. I'm just offering a reminder.

Dynamically Scaled Difficulty adventure scenes are just some of the exciting features to arrive this year. Read more about what’s on the horizon in the Shroud of the Avatar 2020 Vision!

That's pretty much the only info we have on that...?

On the other hand, if nobody ever said anything, would it ever happen? Or just be perpetually back-burnered in favor of whatever new shiny thing grabs their attention?

Are we to always assume that everything they say, be it in a vision plan or answer to a question on a live stream, should never ever be believed, because of that single bit of text? There is a fairly big difference between "sorry, we weren't able to accomplish all our goals for the year" and "sorry, we just didn't bother."

@Anpu unless their Twitter is not a source of official information? That is 5 months ago... note the "Working on [...] now" part, 5 months is a lot of work, guess the loot is going to be perfect when he is done?

Does 2020 really even count as a year. Isn't it just a big mulligan at this point. I'd be pretty happy if the loot is good by the end of next year.

This is a major issue. I am sick and tired of the same response being posted by players trying to legitimise the fact that player are being taking on ride when it comes to promises or a road map. If we look at the 2020 Vision and take a good glance at it. There are some good points which should of been made but the developers rather ignored or find it too difficult to comprehend and totally ignored.

Yes performance have been worked on, maps have been added but also things that are not essentials have been added to keep players quite or forget about some important aspect of the game (Qaulity of Life) in my point of view.

This game is quite old now and there are things that should automatically be in the game.
    • Only this year was Meticulous Collection was added. This was done because a streamer complained/asked about it every interview he got with ATOS.
    • Looking for Group. This is the most basic system I have every seen in any game. The only restriction in it is party size. This feature should be quite complex, advertecture level, builds, skill level restriction and player request only. A player should be able to create a perfect party for a perfect situation he/she wants. At the moment there nothing you can do. Even if you say you want someone with adventure level 100 anyone can join and the only power you have as a leader is to remove the player, but the player can continue to join because LFG is always public. Also where is the PVP Queue that work was actually started on?
    • Skills: The description of skills and what it does is not entirely clear. Chris always says Min-Maxers only want this information but he needs to realise that in order to get the most out of your build you need to know what each skill does and how it does it. Everyone needs to know this information not only the maxers. I should know how my Specialisation affect my skill and what bonus it gives and how my skill change when I have a specialisation. Using buzz words like Masteries means nothing at all. We need to see the stats to make better judgement on how it will work.
    • Character sheet: When you press "C" what do we see, pretty much nothing. We see the characters name, health and focus, three main stats, Resist and Avoid, Gold and Weight. With some mouse over you can find out your adventure level and producer level. Also vague information on your resist that makes no sense. Thus forcing players whom want a more accurate character sheet to have to rely on player made LUA script to get these information.
      • The character sheet should automatedly have these things visible via a tab. We do not care how pretty it is, it could be as ugly as hell. I do not care, I just want the information.
      1. The players adventure/producer level with its progression bar and numbers. It took me 3 months to know the game had levels and I did not know where to find it, it was a streamer that told me where to look. This is consistence to many other players that played this game. We have Green, Yellow, Orange and Red creature in the game depending on what your adventure level is. Player should know how that impacts the player, do I do more damage and they resist less of my damage depending or their colour or vice versa? We need to know.
      2. Critical Hits and Critical Chances for damage and heals. Many players have push their 3 main stats has high as they can get them, they should know their chances and bonus for Crits. This is fundamentally to any MMO. Please god do not talk to me about immersion on this, no that just will not work.
      3. Resistance: A detail description of the character resist level should be present both magic and physical. We should see this directly as we open out character sheet, it should not be hidden from or need an external script to see this. I would like this to be applied to a creature too, say if I kill a creature 100s of time I should get a vague idea on how resistance it is to me (This might be difficult to implement in this game).
      4. Gear Compare: At the moment with shroud, there is no way for a player to know whether his/her helm is better than a new help they just bought or found. If I have a Cloth Helm with 10 Int and I find an other Cloth Helm 6 Int, 2 Dex and 2 Str. How do I know which is better, does the first one give me more DPS am I better with the second because it has different stats with it. When I compare these two item I should know how it will affect my character. Right now its a guesting game and most people tend to stick to one stats only for their build because it is very difficult to determine how better is one item from another. We need a better system that will show us this information, this will work well with a new character sheet.
      5. Pet/Summon Character Sheet: We can buff and feed our Tames. Let us have a character sheet to see their stats, lets have these for summons also. This is crucial to anyone whom have invested time in to their tames or summons. Its important.
    • UI: Quality of Life, they increase the party size yet we cannot move name plates, see buffs clearly, move UI around efficiently as we would like. We have been told that this is a very difficult job to do and it would involve many, many months of work and developers to do with no gain at all to the developers and only gain for the player base. I believe that if a poll was to be done to ask the player base if they took 6 month or more to develop this would we mind. I believe that more that 90% of the player base would agree on that. Maybe the developer need some kind of incentive to perform this work, maybe they do a pledge for this and players sponsor it. I do not know what can be do to persuade the developers to undergo this work but the player base desperately needs this work to do be done. Imagine you are a sole healer and your main focus is the tank wouldn't it be nice if you could drag his name place somewhere else where you can solely focus on that player. Or even organise your party in order of Tank top, Healer second and rest DSP. The ability to move your active buffs or depuff to somewhere you can properly monitor them. To see a cooldown counter on your skills on your combat bar. There are so much we can do with a better UI than a static one we have right now.
    • Sorting: Probably the most simple and natural thing you see in all MMO. Shroud we cannot sort Journal, Recipe and Combat deck. Why not, why has this has never been added to the game? When we use a teleport to zone scroll, the order is always random, it is never the same each time, you have to manually sort it.
This has been a difficult year for everyone but some of the above points could of been implemented in place of some of the things that were introduced this year. The year is not quite over yet and we might get surprised.

This 2020 Vision needs to be reviewed at years end. Let the developers judge themselves on their own performances.

One thing that worries me is that "finally fixing the loot" seems to be translating into "add a bunch of new artifacts". It doesn't seem to understand what's wrong with loot.

He did mention projects about socketing into gear something you would acquire from artifacts somehow, so if that does happen there is a chance things could be working out, really not satisfied yet though.

This is so true, and doesn't even stop the min-maxers at all, because min-maxers will do a bunch of tests and conserve their data, meaning they have all the details anyways, meanwhile the rest of the playerbase is stuck with broken/incomplete/false tool tips and its annoying...

    Greetings all
I understand the frustration but please try to keep 2 things in mind.
    1. It is a small group of employees working on an Indie game not a A+++ level game with lots of employees and money. There is so many things that have been added.
    2. Creating NEW content and items, although "shinny" are the only way they can continue to fund a Free0-to-play game.

If you really want to help, buy something or offer to work for free as a qualified DEV. No wonder they don't respond to rants. "Fix this or I will quit", This has to be fixed and don't worry about new shinny because I am more important that funding or lower level players.", "I have been asking for this to be fixed for years and I know what is more important"

Unless he goes a smarter route and makes the "new" gems a drop instead. Even better, instead of new types of gems, make them drop as fragments that are assembled into gems. Make each type unique to certain scenes, and make the drop rate something reasonable, like 25%-50%. Instead of farming an area or a boss for hours and hours for a single rare gem, you spend hours and hours working toward that gem.

I'll concede that there appears to also be some level of effort at scaling the loot better... if they get that working.

That doesn't work unfortunately. Have tried repeatedly :| Have the time, skills, and ready to go. I remember hearing on a stream from Chris about the difficulties of onboarding to the project so I believe he feels the cost of entry is too high at this time. There may be other various legalities as well around it. I remain hopeful though that at some point in the future there will be an opportunity to assist. If/when that happens I will be ready :)

The best thing we can do to help is to steer them away from wasting time on things like mounts, and fix the core gameplay. They seem to have selective hearing in terms of listening to the players, unfortunately. They seem extremely disinterested in attracting and retaining new players. So the focus is on getting a small group of people to buy a lot, instead of getting a lot of people to buy a few things each. That mis-focus rides alongside their inexplicable disdain for Steam as their primary source of new players.

If they were constructing a kitchen... the stove doesn't work. The ice maker spits out marbles. The refrigerator is half-full of first-time attempts at making new food recipes. The entrances to the kitchen are obstructed by jammed doors. But oh boy, if you were in the market for buying collectable salt-and-pepper shakers, you've come to the right place.

In general, the "core gameplay" works.... but several things have various issues that still have not gotten addressed. Like for example the Anthem of Alacrity, is set up as a totem AOE spell, but the VFX on the spell when using it incorrectly shows it centered on the player as they move around these scene. No idea if that will ever get addressed...

There was however a large push to fix various bugs and core gameplay recently for the next few(?) releases. There was a large amount of reports issued JIRA numbers that hopefully will be resolved in the next few month in the Bug Reports forum.
