I think the NPC will give you hints of where to find each painting. That being said, this quest is almost worthless, I would rather do the daily one in Necropolis Barrens.

I have 600 animal hides to sell. Looks like the NPC vendor going rate is 8gp per hide. What's the chance I'm going to do much better than that? Suggestions?

I have 33,000 because they don’t sell or are any kind of commodity people buy. So either use them for crafting xp or just sell them to an npc for 8 each.

Is there a better way to find out what people are actually buying than to go to crafters town and look for vendors that have buy orders, or just send a message to Traders in-game?

On that subject, why are Beetle Carapaces so sought after? Not complaining, I have 23 of them, but I don't see that they're useful for anything other than Carapacian Cloth.

Hardened leather armor. Gives a bonus to base damage.

    Hahahahaha!

I guess I was worried that I might get to the point where there weren't enough answers to count that high!

Please keep the random questions coming, I'm learning a lot about the game as you slowly tease the most experienced players into disclosing all their knowledge!

I ended up selling them, and I wish now that I had used them for crafting xp. Live and learn I guess.

But seriously, I've been doing quite a bit of butchering and cooking (especially corpion claw potato salad and venison surprise). Crafting any exceptional item is 500XP, so while it's not as fast as raiding the Elysium Mines for silver or the Crag Mines for gold and iron it's still at least viable. That, and I can queue up a batch of 50 things to craft and go do something else for a minute or two.

I'm thinking along the same lines with all of the wood and animal hides I have - I can craft a crapload of random stuff to hoard the XP then sell the stuff I craft. Seems valuable.

EDIT: Along that line, the obsidian wolves in Deep Ravenswood are 10,000XP each, respawn quickly, and can be butchered for obsidian wolf meat which makes wolf surprise which is a pretty good food buff on its own.

It was, up until 10am this morning. But, Obsidian Chops is now better. Though, that takes two obsidian wold meat, and surprise only took one.

    56. I got the Spectral Mines quest from Timothy in Ardoris, but upon arrival I don't see anything (besides infinitely respawning iron nodes and hardened skeletons). Where are the bones???

there's a back ruined-dungeon section to the map. past the hall of ghosts and right, there's a little bunny lair. the bunny isn't there yet, will be for easter, but its minions are.

The entrance to the dungeon-y part is close to the main entrance. If I recall correctly, it's on your left a little after you enter. There's a wooden reinforcement wall you can sorta squeeze by into a new room.

What's this I hear about barding requiring an instrument? I see nothing in the r87 release notes on this. Is it in qa or just a thought for the future?

It's not a requirement. With instrument = full strength, no instrument = quarter strength. Voice Training (new skill) leveled to 100 would bring that up to about half strength without an instrument.

But, Chris rushed it in, and it wasn't working properly, so it was removed the patch after. At some point it will return.

It's 50% without an instrument and 75% if you have Voice training at 100. I personally feel that he should just limit it to single-charge power if you don't have an instrument out and forget the extra skill.

[edit] Either that or decrease the cast time so that charging it up enough to make up for the single-charge nerf is reasonable.

    57. Are polearm specialists at an automatic disadvantage vs. flying creatures? I fought my first dragons (young yellow dragons) in the Blackblade Mountains and pretty much own 1 or 2 of them because they seem to be very susceptible to stuns, and they also stay low to the ground. I happened to wander over to the section of the map where the NOT young yellow dragons are (and by the way the graphics and animation are very impressive - I love the detail in their faces, they almost look completely baffled that such a wimpy outlander would even TRY to fight them!), and they fly a little higher than their young, so much so that my Body Slam is not even activated! How can a polearm user defeat them?

It's been awhile since I've dared Wynton's Folly but I seem to remember the Riei Firefeather presents a similar challenge to a polearm user.

    58. I'm going to start shopping around for endgame rings, necklace, belt and cloak. Suggestions for what to look for in each will be appreciated.
