[As Designed] Dead Body Container - As intended?

I placed several Dead Body containers on my lot and placed several items inside. I then learned that the items disappeared, subsequently removed by another player. In small print it states it is a PUBLIC container. It apparently has the ability to be locked, but even when doing so, it still indicates it is a PUBLIC container. Is this as intended?

 

Also...if not intended.... Can I have my stuff back???????????????

 

The release note say that they're public cache.

 

Maybe @Elgarion can add "Public Cache Chest" to the tool-tip so that it's clear?

 

as designed. missing item requests need to go through support, though i do not know if these count as missing.

 

Yes, sorry -- these are public access containers. There aren't many of those. I'll improve all their tooltips in a minute for an upcoming patch. Good idea, Barugon.

 

Thanks @Candor Atlantica for the report and @Saesa for the warning, I had no idea my collection of 120 artifacts was in a public container

I guess you can see the log and ask the culprit to return the items... though I am not sure they will do so.

 

Yeah, I lost 251 items....dragon loot...but only a few heads and eggs. There's much to say about someone who would take everything in a public cache. Greed comes to mind, but it's my lesson to learn. Yet, there definitely should be a more prominent warning on the container. Instead of Dead Body, Male 1, it should be Dead Body, Public Cache.

 

Do note, right click on a placed container and select the Lock option and then it will be a private container.

 

I actually did click the LOCK option after the fact, but it still said it was a Public container in the small print. I was disgusted by my misadventure in using it as a private container, I haven't bothered to check if it actually locks it as it has indicated.
