Tested - I have strayed for the path of truth, how do I fix that?

The Oracle seems unpleased with me each morning when I go for her gifts.

Seems I did something bad. I am Untruthful, I guess. I recently finished the 4 paths of virtue but that did not correct my transgressions.

What do I need to do to correct my evil ways?

 

STOP LYING.

 

When you talk to NPCs around town tell them your name. But make sure it is your full name- I had a poor truth virtue early on because I introduced myself as Gwen and the game counted that as lying. But each new NPC you introduce yourself to affects your virtue one way or the other from what I have heard.

 

I think there are also a couple quests where you have a chance to lie or tell the truth, but it's been so long I couldn't tell you which or where.

 

Raising Truth is fairly easy:

• When speaking to a NPC manually type My name is YOURFULLNAMEHERE.
• Speak to Tavernkeepers and tell them truthfully about your day. Like Russell in The Laughing Owl Inn in Aerie.
• When doing the overland encounters, and finishing the wave battles in them, there’s a random chance an Ecology Researcher might appear. Speak to them.

When telling NPC’s your name you must give them your actual full in game name for that to be truthful. For Example, if your in game name is Xena WarriorPrincess speak to NPC's and manually type: My name is Xena WarriorPrincess

To LOWER your truth, just follow the above but lie

When speaking to the Oracle, manually type truth and she will mention the last thing you did that effected your truth virtue. Pay attention to what she actually says....

Or, if you don't want to do all that, you could just answer No when the Oracle asks you about Truth.

Has your shroud changed to grey or black yet? If you get two virtues negative, I hear it goes dark on you.

 

IIRC You can judge how far you have strayed from the virtues by looking at the stat bonuses the Shroud gives you. For full virtue in all areas you will have a bonus of +5 to each of Strength, Dexterity, and Intelligence scores. The lower they are from that, the further you have strayed. ;-)
My Int is about +2 currently, it is easy to get your Truth knocked down, particularly early on.

 

What shroud do you speak of?

 

It’s the item you will receive when you finish the Episode 1 main quest.

 

here is one for you which I laugh at. I am negative truth. yet week the oracle asks me a truth question and I tell them the truth to get my reward. so in theory by me telling the oracle the truth about where I stand with truth I should be slowly raising it lol. pretty sure though it does not but the irony is funny.

 

That may not actually be the truth though.

 

Note that this only works with NPCs that have their own name. (just ask them first) It also can only be done once per each NPC ever, unless you use a quest reset. There are a LOT of named guards in Brittany. From maximum negative it will take almost 130 times to get back to zero. (I got maximum negative Truth when the fountain in Westend was mistakenly set to privately owned.)

What the oracle is actually asking is if your Truth (or other virtue) is currently positive or negative. Answering it does not change the virtue, or you would have the problem Xee mentioned. The oracle will not ask about a virtue that is exactly zero, which is why you can't do that until you've played a bit.

 

1. Kill Dark Unicorns if you can.

2. Type, then highlight and CTRL+C this: My name is FIRSTNAME LASTNAME.

3. Walk up to every single npc and hit CTRL+V, and hit enter.
