We did a bit of testing today to see the effect of party size on XP (big thanks to Gwendolyn, Dequick, and Alorra for the help) and came up with the following:

    01 Members in Party = 100% XP = 100% per player
    02 Members in Party = 175% XP = 87.5% per player
    03 Members in Party = 200% XP = 66.7% per player
    04 Members in Party = 225% XP = 56.3% per player

Meaning in a party of 3 players a mob that would normally give 1000XP to a single player gives 2000XP to a party of 3, which is split evenly so that each player gets 667XP into their pool, or 66.7% of what they'd make killing it solo.

Of course individual party members receiving less XP per mob than they would if they'd killed it solo is often offset by larger parties killing mobs faster. It's often times better XP per person when a strong party goes to a hard zone than those players would make individually, such as at a control point.

If we assume this pattern holds, these would be the numbers for parties of increasing size:

    05 Members in Party = 250% XP = 50.5% per player
    06 Members in Party = 275% XP = 48.8% per player
    07 Members in Party = 300% XP = 42.9% per player
    08 Members in Party = 325% XP = 40.6% per player
    09 Members in Party = 350% XP = 38.9% per player
    19 Members in Party = 375% XP = 37.8% per player
    11 Members in Party = 400% XP = 36.4% per player
    12 Members in Party = 425% XP = 35.4% per player

Hopefully folks find this info somewhat useful, and hopefully any discrepancies that can be found might bring potential bugs to light. If anyone can confirm that the extrapolation for party sizes from 5-12 is correct that would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks Fox Blue! That should answer the question on larger party sizes, though I guess parties of 9-12 are new since then, might warrant a separate test. Looking at the formula I also made an open party with just myself in it and re-tested. Luckily I was only getting the same XP I'd get solo, so no +50% loophole or anything (I imagine if there were it would have been well known and closed long ago).

The pet bug (is that specific to Spindelskog?) needs some looking into for sure. I've heard it's roughly half XP, but is it in fact 87.5%? I guess that would be a clue. Maybe pets are counting in the denominator to divide party XP but not in the numerator adding to party XP, that would make it 50% I suppose, but I can't summon anything over a chicken so I really don't know.
