Anyone know of changes in Agriculture's economics?

I went to sell some crops to an NPC today and his buying price was 1gp each for every type of crop.

No matter how long it took to grow it, they are all sold at the same price now.

I know there's been other changes, because I almost use no water to water my entire fields with.

I see sort of a problem now, because any Google or Sota Forums search will always offer the same "very old and outdated" information sources, with nothing else to offer.

Does anyone know an accurate place or link to get our "new and updated" agriculture lore from?

    Thanks for any replies :)~TL~

18 produce items used in recipes yet grown via agriculture have had their NPC Merchant prices doubled and sale to NPC Merchants prices halved. In R89, all 18 of these items will be removed entirely from NPC merchants to encourage more agriculture use.

Planting and watering now has a ten percent chance of using a bucket.

One thing you can do, while in game, at the top right of your screen click the Window Selector then click Leaderboards. When that window opens click the Consumables field at the left side of the window. Now at the top of the window click the 30 Days button.

See all that? That’s going to give you a good basic idea of what you probably should be growing.

Anyone know the watering times for the plants? I'd like to take a less random chance at missing a water cycle.

If you're growing for profit cotton still NPCs for 4pg per (as of QA Build 1198), and is the highest profit plant per day per slot by a wide margin. Though with the watering changes selling Mandrake or Nightshade to the NPC at 1gp each makes nearly the same profit as cotton used to, and more than tea did.

I do wonder how that would equate into a "pay your rent" through agriculture sort of reasoning (size of lot vs how much space on it needs to be then dedicated to crops to pay that lot's taxes).

For myself personally, my hopes are that produce becomes something to barter with and have more fun in growing/harvesting. I'd rather have had produce taken "entirely off the NPC market", as I feel that NPC price supports at 1gp per.... just supports it's total loss of having any value at all. If it's between 1gp and nothing, I choose nothing, as that then helps it carry it's own worth's value.

Something is coming, a change is coming, with even more changes to come after that.

I think putting "fun or something interesting in is more important than gold". I wish Catnip/Poralaium the very best luck on that one!

Agriculture is a dead skill, useless. Unless someone or anybody can help me think otherwise.

Everything you can grow can be used by players, to make food, as reagents, etc.

I agree, if I grow 10 red apples I can sell them for maybe 20gp if I can sell them. Making red dye or apple pie isn’t the holy grail however. If I kill a bunch of low level monsters and sell their loot Ivan indeed make some money.
So why does one skill allow selling to npc vendors yet others can’t? Surely a game is a game and we each choose what skill to excel in?
Your statement is correct though and I thank you for your feedback

There was a group, a large group it once was, who came to sota for the game of agriculture.

But all our flavors were taken away, leaving the excuse behind that we still had what hunters need, as if we were mercenaries just in it for the gold.

Our game was taken, while other ways of gaming in our game still have the ability to thrive.

Why it was decided to do this, I'm certain there were reasons, but it was some players entire game.

There seems a caste system when it comes to ways of playing our game and we agriculturalists lost.

It's more difficult than fishing and more time dedicated than hunting.

Agriculturalists lost our game, I don't know why, but we did.

I am hoping this will change.
