    Details / Steps to Reproduce:
    Talk to the Guardian(s) of Necropolis.
    The name of the spirit speaker (Kardan Marbane) is shown as:
    ?KARDAN MARBANE?

    Go on and try to talk to Nyx.
    --> "You don't think it would be a good idea to speak to Nyx without a spirit talker present to translate."

    The "?KARDAN MARBANE?" isn't a typo exactly. It happens when a conversation occurs with more than one NPC talking, but the extra NPC isn't close enough to the one controlling the conversation. In other words, Kardan was too far away from the main conversing NPC.

    Could you tell me if you received the "Summon Kardan Marbane" summoning whistle before you left Kardan by the entrance? You need to possess this whistle if you want to escort Kardan. Also, if you had the whistle, did you add it to your hotbar and use it to summon Karden? I'm trying to determine if you didn't have the escort version of Kardan, or if you had the escort version but he wasn't following you.

    I forgot to mention it. There was / is no whistle in my inventory. I tried this, knowing about the summoning whistle, but in this case there is no whistle.

    Specific steps: Speak to and hire Kardan. Receive Enter Necropolis quest. Enter Necropolis Barrens, speak to Kardan. Enter Necropolis. Speak to Kardan and he joins your party. Speak to Nyx.
    Paladin Michael didn't provide any exact steps so I don't know if I am doing anything differently. Also if the ?KARDAN MARBANE? shows, isn't that part of the translation stuff? I'm doing this in English. Also is Paladin Michael doing this in German?

    Doing this with Samael did work fine.

    You're not seeing the ?? because Kardan is within Nyx's awareness range. Think of the ?? as a "referenced NPC not in area" warning.

    Kardan is incompetent and you need Samael to advance the quest/storyline.

    Samael's got the skills to pay the bills.

    The core problem with Paladin Michael's experience is that he never got Kardan's summoning whistle. I'm not sure why that would have happened, since nothing's changed with these quests/conversations/items. I poked through the assets a bit and everything still seems fine to me. It seems like a one-off experience. Has anyone else not gotten the summoning whistle for Kardan, and have any additional details?

    @Paladin Michael are you still having this problem? If you speak to Kardan inside the entrance to the Necropolis an additional time, do you receive the summoning whistle?

    I'll be making an adjustment to the logic by which Kardan delivers his whistle. I saw Samael already had the adjustments I planned for Kardan. I'm not sure why they've been different, but hopefully this fixes the core issue of Kardan not delivering his whistle.
