I just checked the PC I'm on (Windows) and both Live and QA files are dated from 1/2021. Perhaps this file is no longer used by the game client?
I'll tag @Alley Oop to see if this behavior is different in Linux, perhaps.

@Archer Looks like we may have stopped using this in January for all clients. Can you give me some background on what you might leverage that info for?

We need to dig a little to see why we might have discontinued it, but there is a possibility of it causing lag. Looking into seeing if this is available via LUA or if not, then adding it as a LUA function.

This file is still updated on the production client, at least on Linux. As for what I use it for... what it was intended to do, provide near realtime info on the avatar and scene. This file is available from outside of the client making it particularly useful for accessing without having to use Lua. That is needed because currently not all of the info is available in Lua (DevilCult has said he is adding a function for the map_file name (ShroudGetSceneNameRaw, see Discord lua channel 6th Aug.), but this would still leave the Orientation value unavailable in Lua. I'd be happy to stop using the file, as disc I/O is a costly/slow resource, if all of the functionality were available in Lua, even if that means having to use Lua to access it with no option for external languages that are more friendly ;-)

It would be great to have ALL of the functionality available in a single Lua call (ShroudGetCurrentPlayerData()?) instead of the several individual functions that currently exist.

Ok, got it. yes, this method has been discontinued and I confirmed with DC that the Map filename has been added. If there are additional data points that should be added to the LUA function, I'm sure he will dig into those. You may want to ping him on those requests directly.

So (interestingly) if the file is still being updated on the Linux Live client, that's technically a bug. Not sure why the Linux QA and Linux live would have different behaviors. At this point that would be the only version of the client still updating the file.

Strange. I have scripts still using it successfully. :(

I have 15th. Jan for QA and today for Live.
QA uses the Launcher, but Live is via Steam, might that make a difference? I'm assuming that Steam build are different to Launcher ones.

The bug being that it still works. (just to be clear)

This function has moved to LUA.
