I wish we had a gem, imbued gem, jewel, and imbued jewel removal tool so that we can replace same with a different item. Something along the lines of the store item "dye remover".

This will very likely never happen. The reason is that you could get enchantments that are specific to the gem/jewel that you have socketed and then replace it with a different gem/jewel. They specifically removed the ability to replace gems/jewels for this very reason.

True, but in general, you would actually be worse off mixing gems and jewels with enchantments from a different specialty. A change in jewel or gem would not maximize your net power but give you something less. Thus, the removal tool would be used as a last resort trying to preserve a well crafted item for use in another school without enjoying the enhanced enchantments with school synergy. That said, I appreciate the point. Just wonder if the whole thing should be rethought.

This would be primarily used after you add a special enchant - you then remove to add an Imbued gem. For example on a chest piece for a blade user you could add strength of earth and then remove the earth gem and add a rend gem to get a much more powerful chest. I'm sure there are a ton of other examples, that was just the first that popped into my head.

Not saying it's a bad thing, just wanted to point out that it would definitely create more powerful gear.

I had not considered that scenario. I guess that's a good point. I never add my gems to an item before masterwork, and almost never before enchanting, so I did not visualize the problem.

I would like if when salvaging an item there was a chance to get a gem back but no other way.
