Hey folks, I'm sure many of you have already heard of this, but I hadn't until @Lazarus Long talked about it with @Jack SinAssist on their show the other day. It's the Legends of Aria community built Ultima Online replica, Shards of Britannia, and holy smokes lemme tell ya, it's freaking amazing.

As someone who played UO very early on, they have done an amazing job of recreating the game. It's still in development but what is there is fantastic. I was never really a big fan of UO, but I am loving the nostalgic feels that Shards of Britannia gives me everytime I log in, check it out:

Bro, it's amazing and I never really liked UO. I freaking love what they did in recreating the game and Britannia. I forgot to mention, despite Legends of Aria being free, you do need to buy a $20 "Citizen Pass" to access Shards of Britannia, but it was twenty bucks well spent IMHO. :D

The most important question is - Does it have Trammel??? That is the best part of Ultima Online.

Unfortunately, I'm already down on MMOs and I will absolutely bypass anything that has unrestricted griefing.

I don't want to in any way dampen the discovery of what may seem like a great game to you, or anyone who is reading. However, please be aware of some of the following:
    1. The original underlying game, Legends of Aria, was sold off to a crypto-currency investor. Their plans are to re-launch the game with NFT hooks, and to leave a "classic" version of the game without the NFT hooks running. This is a bit speculative as there is no guarantee if the NFT re-launch fails that the classic servers won't go away either.
    2. While the community server is run off the Legends of Aria server code, it is separate and distinct. And while I have seen them talk about "buying" the game or somehow getting the code to keep their community server running if the original game closed, this, too is speculative.
    3. The admins/creators of the Shards of Britannia community server spent a LOT of time porting over the game to a custom map. When they "launched" the new UO map a portion of the main isle and was missing many of the towns/locations. This was last year. This year, they added some more of the map BUT it is still a way off from being completed. So, don't expect a full UO experience with all your favorite spots. There are spots to be found to tickle your nostalgia, but not all of the ones you might want to visit.
I personally had a lot of fun in this community server. However, aside from the map not being completed, they do try to "tweak" a lot of the code which, invariably, leads to more bugs. Treat it as a community server and don't expect much from it and you will do fine to check it out.

I had a lot of initial fun playing this.
However, being ganked on level two of Shame and losing my month hard earned stuff was not pleasant.
I had emotions of anger, retribution and hate.
I don't want those emotions in my gaming.
