Interesting thread, totally looking forward to going through these, learning about some bands i didn't know of yet. nice!

 

A very interesting thread indeed I often have it playing something in the background while I'm playing SOTA, as I don't particularly like our game's own music.

Here's a band that is historically connected to Ultima, which our game is in the spirit of, "Hawkwind", which is the name the original Ultima Time Lord after his first appearance in Ultima from long, long, LONG, ago' ~Time Lord~

 

Oh really, that's awesome, I love Hawkwind and really appreciate Dave Brock, as well as Nik Turner; can't forget the excellent first album with Lemmy either!
Saw Nik Turner in NYC (amazing, passionate, sax and flute) and Hawkwind in Allentown PA, a friend of mine is going to see them in the UK in early August.

BTW: I can't back that claim about the band Hawkwind and Ultima up with a shred of hard evidence, but the time frame seems solid for Lord British's beginnings in D&D "as Lord British", his return to the USA in his teen years at about the same time when the band "Hawkwind" would have been very popular with this album which is full of such Ultima styled lyrics, before Ultima was born:


I've never asked Lord British about it directly because I think some things are best kept in hidden nostalgia due to possibly invading into someone's life history a bit too much. Lord British is a star, but he's not the type of star like those of Hollywood movies where everyone need to know litterally everything about them.

Ravalox I can't wait to see what comes next because with each passing of the torch, our game always gets even more dazzling!
