PaxLair's 25th Anniversary Party

PaxLair will be celebrating it's 25th Anniversary as a Community. Started January 1998 in the game Ultima Online. The community is now based in both games, in UO on the Chesapeake Shard and in SOTA as the 1st Player Owned town back in Release 17.

PaxLair's 25th Anniversary Events Schedule

Fishing events:
10 am est (9 CST) - Noon est - Salt Water = Closest Length to 6.0 length using min of 2 fish
Noon est - 2pm est - Fresh Water = Closest Length to 5.0 length using min of 2 fish
2pm est - 4pm est - Fetid Water = Closest Length to 4.0 length using min of 2 fish
4 pm est - 6 pm est - Lava = Closest Length to 4.0 length using min of 2 fish

Fishing Rules:
All fish must be caught in PaxLair and each type may only have a time stamp for the permitted time.
Any Participant may only win 1 tourney, may only be 2nd 1x and 3rd 1x. So possible to place in up to 3 of the 4 tourneys
All bags must be turned in by 6:15 pm est. There are special drop off locations for this. One is on the LOI Island, village fishing shack look for the Pax Fish Banners. The other is on Gix island out by lake, again look for fishing shack and banners. Drop offs can occur in either location. Once dropped in , you cannot retrieve it.

Tourney Results issued no later than Sunday the 29th. A few of the winning fish may be kept by PaxLair for trophies to commemorate.

1st Place: Trophy, Pax Keg, Pax Fishing Cloak, a subscribers bag, fish food, bait, 200 cotos, note, book
2nd Place: Trophy, Pax Keg, fish food, bait, 100 cotos, book, Obsidian Potion
3rd Place: Trophy, Pax Keg, fish food, bait, 50 cotos, book, Obsidian Potion

PaxLair's 25th Anniversary event will take place Saturday, January 28, following R110​

Detailed information to follow, here are the highlights, seperate Salt, Fresh and Lava Fishing events to run during specific time periods during the day.
Seperate prizes for each category.

Later in the day/evening speeches,a DJ dance party, GM powered fun and loaded PaxLair 25th Anniversary gift bags.

We request all members of PaxLair wear their formal Guild attire to the later events. Anyone that has one please wear any PaxLair inspired cloak you have. We'll be looking for a photo sesson of everyone wearing their gifted 25th Anniversary Cloak.

SOrry i will miss the event. I misread the date and wont be around on Saturday. Thought it was Sunday. I was looking forward to the event.

 

Is this a guild internal event with the requirement to wear guild cloaks? Or is this open for everyone?

"Bags must be turned in..."

Does that mean I have to bring a bag to put the fish into when I hand it over?
Or is it like in other contests where all fish goes into a public chest?

 

There's a "Bay" fishing shack at the "24th Ann LOTI Castle" signpost - There is a Public Box for submitting fish there. Also a box with free bags/packs for you to grab and use.

Fishing was great. It certainly is a new that we had 3 people suffer major burns and 1 dead casualty from fishing without PVP. Watch your step near lava pools...

The idea of meeting an arbitrary length is a good one, too. Not only does one have to fish but combine fishes according to lenght to get the "perfect" combination...

Welcome everyone to PaxLair's 25th Anniversary!

I am Governor Winfield, one of the original Founders of PaxLair. Let's talk about the past, present and future for a moment. No Christmas Story Ghosts will appear I promise you. But that would be cool!

Long ago, some brilliant people made a realm called Ultima Online. I must admit, if they had not created UO ... PaxLair would not exist.

25 years ago on January 19, 1998, "The Band" guild placed some houses in a meadow on Chesapeake Shard in UO. It became a hotbed of activity as people moved in, fought each other, and held events. The meadow became a diverse, usually peaceful melting-pot of many adventurers. Therefore, we called that place PaxLair, which means "Peace Place". Let us clap for our founders, veterans and our long and continuing history.

In more recent years and to this present day, absolutely brilliant people created and continue to enhance Shroud of the Avatar. They provide us with a fresh and wonderful place to live and enjoy. Let's wholeheartedly thank the Devs, and original Founders and Backers!

PaxLair exists today in Old Britannia and New Britannia. Over the past 2 and one-half decades, PaxLair changed from a simple player-town to a player-statehood of several towns and a large alliance of many guilds, to the first Player Owned Town here in New Britannia.

Here, we've enjoyed working with the Devs on original ideas for POTs. We now enjoy being part of the larger community of players, guilds, and towns. We enjoy New Britannia in its rich lore, history, artistry, and challenges. We enjoy being with people who are friendly and help each other. Let's clap for the community of friends and adventurers!

The future for PaxLair in Britannia is as bright as always. With continued commitment by the brilliant Devs and player community leaders, we are blessed. With many events, tournaments, and adventure parties, we are active. With open arms for new and returning players, we are humbled. With our commitment to many, many more years in both Britannias, we have endurance. With a leader here in Sean Silverfoot, we have vision. With all of you here now and in the future, we are PaxLair! Let's clap for PaxLair!

Our 25th Anniversary is just a point in time and does not define us. We are defined by the emotions, passions, and excitement of adventurers who live in, visit, and learn about PaxLair. We look forward to many more of these gatherings in many places in the future.
