I just started playing yesterday and so far I am enjoying the game, but I have been disconnected 7 or 8 times so far due to network problems. My network seems fine for everything but this game. Anyone else having lots of disconnects?

    Thanks!

Greetings ubai and welcome. No I am not having those issues, nor do I see folks online dropping off randomly, so I suspect it is not a server issue. Are you using the steam client or a direct client? Either way - the cause is most likely your internet connection - whether internal to your equipment or your provider.

I'm connecting via Steam, and I don't see any outages reported in my area. Thanks!

Not had any issues with SotA, but I don't play via Steam - I do see there have been a lot of issues reported in the UK of problems with Steam though in the last day, https://downdetector.co.uk/status/steam/ shows a big spike of issues late last night/early this morning for us, but I am not sure if those would affect your connection to the SotA servers once you were in and playing.

    Greetings ubai
Just a note on the usual things....
Check for open ports, and know thst the Mac tends to crash out especially when you first load in and start turning/moving. It seems to be a deco load issue. once loaded it runs fine. Also you could run a ping in the background as you are playing to see if your network is dropping out. If you need to know how to run that message me and I will walk you thru it.

I'm on a PC, so no worries there. I'll try running a background ping, thanks for the suggestion!

Have you checked that your system fulfills all the other requirements?

I don't believe MITS ever made an Altair 9000, just an Altair 8800.

I have not seen any disconnects, if you are in pvp and go afk it will auto disconnect after a short time. but if you are playing moving around and it disconnects that is something else most likely between you and servers as nobody I know has been disconnected like that. I also do know there is the "RTX" bug where if you have an nvidia card with rtx it can slow down over time from entering and exiting scenes with lots of deco. usually it slow your fps down to like 4-6 and eventually crashes the client. those are the only known things I can think of incase its one of them. beyond that network issues can be a lot of things. if you are on starlink for example which I am. i have had days where there was a 1 sec blip every so often that ended up screwing up my ability to play for 24 hours a few months back. 1s is not much time but it was enough of a disconnect that it broke the connections.

FYI, Steam only logs you in and updates the software, I don't think any game does its multi-player communications through Steam.
It might help to know more about your configuration, RAM, GPU, etc., and as Xee said, be aware that there is a bug from that version of the Unity engine that has trouble with more recent Nvidia cards.
