I would like to stress that I would count myself in on the UO crowd, and _cause of it_ would not want another UO. I had that for 10 years and I am thoroughly bored and fed up with it.
    Live goes on.

I enjoyed aspects of UO, but don't want to see a clone of it. It was far from perfect. Don't forget that the people who created UO are creating the new game with the knowledge of everything they've learned along the way. When they propose change, we should give them the benefit of the doubt.

"SotA can't be a direct clone of either the Ultima games or UO itself. What it can be, hopefully, is an enjoyable, interesting, fun, and immersive game world that uses the best elements from those backgrounds, along with new and exciting features, to make something we'll want to continue to play for a long time to come."
    Agreed!
That is one reason I am looking forward to this game I like the whole Idea RG put out.:D

Huh? I never criticised the older game. I critised the way it was handled. It was never allowed to consistently evolved. Nearly every expansion had a new power behind it.

I know. And UO2 ended up being recycled into Lord Blackthorn's Revenge. Which was ill received for it's steampunk features. I personally liked them!

UXO was a perfect example of the poor decisions by the brains left behind. Constantly introducing mechanics and gameplay that contradicted the core of Ultima....

I would gladly trade my SoTA for a UO2...but I'm a gamer, I came here for a game.

The only thing that worries me is that game may end up being half of what UO was.

Game remakes are usually prettier versions of the originals with all the good things ripped out and simplified for the mass market.

This is a game made by a small studio on a relatively small budget. At launch, it might only have half of UO's launch features. But the game will be growing over time.

I was not really surprised to see that, but I knew some would be and this is the reason for it.

I putting my (misplaced?) optimism behind the devs and their current vision. :)

It would be interesting to see the distribution of pledge level against the magic-pvp-slider-thing (tm) (did I get it right?).

My guess: Higher pledging players are less likely to want a fool's loot. ;-)

    That is close enough :)

I think your guess would be correct. I thought about that also, but also am aware that you'll never get an accurate result if you ask people how much they donated in respect to their play style. We PKs are pretty much pathological liars, will say and do just about anything to get our full loot!
