I'm curious if they are going to allow Lord (xxxx) as a name or do you have to be Lord pledge to get the Lord title?

Thats still not a title. So either the pledge or maybe there are some ingame instances which allow you to gain certain titles.
As for assigning Lord as a name, I am pretty sure, this will be blocked in a future publish (there is some blocking already in as I had to figure out with my last name choice).

According to the pledges posting, depending on your tier, there are honorific titles that the player can use in-game and they can control whether or not they are used. For example, at Knight level your title can be Sir/Dame so and so, at Lord it would be Lord so and so (didn't see Lady?). That being the case, I would imagine you could only use it if you pledged that level.

Great, so I could be Lord Lord Lord. Or Knight Knight Knight, etc...

    I hope they block that.

Of course, now I feel the overwhelming urge to be Lord Al Mighty.

As others have said, I'd guess that they will block the use of titles as names.

Many games also threaten to block names that would ruin immersion (or similar statement), I've found that most games tend to ignore that rule beyond a very simple rule at character creation.

Why block such names? They're a dead giveaway that the one wearing it is a total idiot!

Same reason they stopped all of us idiots from having forum titles...some of the idiots got jelous and complained until it was changed.

Why are you using the word idiot to single out and demean other founders/benefactors?

I'm hoping for my collegue founders/benefactors to have more imagination. But at some point, this game will release, and that will bring the masses...

So yes, I'll definitely shun people who pick rediculous names on sight.

They should just make the NPCs mock and shame you into changing the name.

There's a difference between the title - in your example it's Knight or Knight Commander for Founders.... and the honorific, which appends Sir/Dame to the green part of the name.

    Just to be clear.

I don't single these people out but I also ignore them.
My policy is if it's not something that could concievably be a family name or something race or era/setting appropriate (depending on the game) I usually leave them alone and let them have a dumb name.

    *Story
My wife and I played WoW on a RP server, I had an Orc named Brogar, she had a Tauren named Braveflower, both not bad, general Orc/WoW name for me, and her with the Tauren-Native American theme.
We 'encounter' this guy at the bank one day, and had seen around before but ignored, his name was Deadlyblitz (on an RP server!). He descided for some reason that we were his BF's or parents or something and would try to follow us around relentsly...I just think he realy didn't have the copacity to understand what he was doing (aside from not having read the red words explaining the expectations nameing rules of RP servers when he loged in the first time). I'm generally not picky about much of anything, but that irritated me to no end, but I think it was the following us around like an excited puppy or Lenny from Of Mice and Men...his name was just the icing on the cake.

Thanks :) that's what I was trying to explain, but you said it much clearer by using the color descriptor.

I think the main reason was people got confused between the pledge levels and the forums titles that shared a similar progression

I think it was more that some people with high titles complained enough to the right people that there were lower ranking people with seemingly higher titles than they "deserved" due to the amount pledged.

Just my thoughts on the subject based on my first-hand observations.

I'm sure other titles will be available to be earned in game. I would rather they WERE available through the game or for purchase with in-game gold tbh. Then you can "proudly display your title" and not necessarily have people know whether you spent x amount of dollars pre-game.

Your tone seems a bit derogatory towards those who contributed more to the game than you about high titles complaining that they "deserved" titles due to amount pledged.

For the record - there's nobody with lower pledges with seemingly higher titles according to the pictures I've seen... the title appears underneath your name, not in front of it.

I'm Sorry, I had to laugh at the thought of someone rolling a dumb named toon on a WoW RP server then following players around pestering them. It's really not funny, not sure why I can't stop laughing.
