Pledge Counts?

Now that April 7 has passed, I'd like to see what the current pledge counts are. As a reminder, here are the pledge counts when the Kickstarter ended.

The devs had previously stated that they WOULD release pledge counts after April 7th. I would suspect that this may be a part of the weekly update.

I hope they also release the breakdown in terms of how many Royal Founders, Founders, and Backers make up each pledge count. I think this would give a lot of people added incentive to "move up" a spot or two from their current pledge.

Agree completely. Would love to see these numbers.

 

It's nice to see so many pledges around the physical copies. Most of it is obsolete in this digital age but it seems there are still plenty of us who have to have those "feelies"!

 

I would like to see these #'s too. However, if there is some strategic or economic reason they feel that they should withhold this info for the time being, then I am ok with that too. Not saying there is a reason to withhold, nor can I come up with one either.

 

In traditional game development I wouldn't expect for them to publish the numbers. But this is far from traditional, so I'd expect them to toss some more numbers our way.

 

I see no reason for non-disclosing. We already see in realtime total number of pledgers and total amount. Why not to show how many pledge ranks were taken ?

I personally would like to see how many fellow Lords are around. Hope to meet them all to drink plenty of rum on my boat party

 

I think part of the mystery of not knowing the pledge counts for the different tiers is in-part what entices us to want to upgrade to the next tier. Knowing how many other players there are in my tier gives me some idea of what to expect the competition to be during the plot selection period. Perhaps knowing is enough to make me comfortable in my tier. I think not knowing is a good (and fair) marketing tactic This is entirely speculation though, so I could definitely be wrong.

That said, the KS campaign seems like a pretty good data sample; I bet it would fairly easy to extrapolate the numbers to the current number of pledges to get an idea of what that breakdown might look like.

For this purpose I have put all pledges under Adventurer into Adventurer since they are no longer available. I also conflated all sub tiers (e.g. Baron 1, 2 and 3) and Citizen/Edelmann (which is essentially Citizen 2 anyway) since they were not available during KS.

Expect Knight numbers to be a lot higher, as DarkStarr already pointed out that it was quite a popular pledge post-KS.

The essentially free $20 upgrade from Alienware would also skew the lower level pledges a lot.

Cool. Just for fun, I massaged your numbers a little bit. I figure its been a year since the KS, so perhaps 5% of the original backers, 1101 of them, decided to move forward a tier relative to where they were. Of these 5% backers, perhaps 50% of them moved into Citizen pledge, 30% moved into Knight from Citizen, 10% moved from Knight to Lord, 7% moved from Lord to Baron, 2% moved from Baron to Duke, and 1% moved from Duke to LotM. Totally pulled those percentages out of thin air, but perhaps the breakdown could even look like this:

Citizen/Edelmann: 791
Knight: 537
Lord: 137
Baron: 112
Duke: 19
Lord of the Manor: 28

 

The money pledged double since the Kickstarter ended, but the number of backers only went up 50%. So I think quite a few of the original KS backers moved up to higher pledges.

 

Would that include Add-On Store purchases?

 

I think I heard during the 12 hr telethon party, that the number of total dollars raised, that's shown on the website, does include Add-On Store purchases.

 

Ah yes, you're correct. The pledge totals would include the add-ons. I forgot to consider that.

 

Given that people are interested in this mostly to see how much competition they have for house placement lot selection, it would also be great if they could display the minimum pledge values required for each sub group in each tier, based on the existing pledges amounts. It should be pretty simple - just need to display the lowest pledge value in each group. This would encourage people to add to their pledge for a better shot at lot selection!
