What I really love about this video is how RG talks about how MMO's made everything easy for people. (i.e. automaps and quest logs)

That's exactly why I've never played WoW or Guild Wars or EQ or many of the other games out there that spoon feed their players for the sake of making everything "easy". I want risk and challenge.

Also, I'm with you RG..."go all the way and let people make beef jerky out of you".

I played all those games and more. Still UO was the best for me, by far.

It was a very good interview with the man himself. Some very interesting details he went into, and it is good to see that a lot of the decisions that people are talking about on the forums are still in the decision making process internally. Of course we knew most systems are still in the works and up for change, but RG talked more about it which is always good.

Great interview. There is also a 30 minute pre interview worth watching on the Mostly harmly Twitch channel.

I agree it was a great POCAST. I felt RG explained the dynamics of what makes this game different very well.:)

    Me too...

ALTHOUGH, if there's one constructive critique I think the devs need to understand and polish quickly, it's that they clearly have no idea what they're doing in PVP YET. I've watched every video about SotA that there is and everytime someone brings up PVP, Darkstarr and RG suddenly don't really have much to say other than "we haven't thought about that yet". It's been over a year and it's getting old. They may not have all the answers and things might change A LOT over time, but come on, what's the vision?

I really wish RG and team would stop tip toeing around pvp so much and start delivering a more developed message as to what we can expect and what we can not expect. Crafting, Housing, they will talk for hours on end about that. But bring up PVP and it's like "PV- what? huh? did you say something?"

Come on! Here is this large guild that enjoys PVP saying "how about guild vs. guild pvp?" and it's like RG doesn't know what to say next. Obviously he has thoughts on the subject, but he probably just doesn't want to get ahead of himself because everything is still in flux. We've been hearing it FOREVER, "the team is very passionate on both sides of the issue" and "we debate the same things on the team". Ok, so at what point do you guys pick a lane? At what point does someone make an executive decision and say "this is what we're doing"?

I hope, HOPE that they are just trying to wait until R6,7,8,9 etc...to get people testing out pvp before they make core decisions. But that shouldn't mean that the VISION shouldn't be more clear by now. Questions like "How will guild vs. guild pvp work?" This should be a soft ball that we can all hit out of the park by now, but honestly I have no idea how GvG will work because no one ever goes into any detail about it - and I've been here forever.

:) This concludes my constructive feedback.

I'm a member of the Mostly Harmless guild and was thrilled to be able to watched through Twitch a great interview.

I have now pledged $135 towards this game.

    From Mostly Harmless website:

"We were very excited (and a little nervous!) to interview the creator of Ultima, astronaut and entrepreneur Mr. Richard Garriott (aka Lord British) about his latest project: Shroud of the Avatar (SOTA). He was so well spoken and easy to talk to - and more importantly his ideas were so interesting about the evolution of MMO's and where they may have gone wrong - that we were all captivated by his 'spell'.

At the end of the interview, there is the pre-show interview.

    Was a great interview.

So much so that I tossed some coin towards this game.

ThornRage, I found myself listening to this interview twice. Thank you so much for sharing this with everyone.
I truly enjoyed listening to all the questions and stories. Thanks to Kamie great questions, ChillBilly (I want to trade pigs with this guy and doesn't SotA Fishing sound fun:)) and a special thanks to Rook (I want to try his beer he makes from a kit).
But thank you the most ThornRage for having posted this to enjoy. This ranks one of the truly best Lord British interviews I've seen ;)!
