    I love computers...

Tell me about your current gaming computer and if you plan on upgrading in the near future.

Lowly system that has trouble running Minecraft or game crushing multi-video card, water cooled beast, tell me about it, include a picture if you so desire.

My current computer still runs every game that I play at acceptable levels, with the exception of Star Citizen, but it still runs it pretty dam well I just have to play at a lower resolution and quality settings. 1680x1050, medium)

I'm going to give my current rig to my kids and build myself a new gaming monster since upgrading does not make sense at this point.

    Current system:
    CPU: Intel Core i7 930 @ 2.80Ghz
    Mobo: Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R
    Case LIAN LI
    RAM: 12GB
    PSU: 550W
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 6900 Series (6950)
    128GB SSD OS drive
    1.5T HDD storage drive
2x 1920x1200 LCD displays (Dell, ASUS)
    Logitech G9x mouse
    Logitech G15 keyboard
    Windows 7 64bit
    Standard DVD drive

Current In Progress build: (I'm slowly picking up parts I find on sale, and some not on sale ;))
    CPU: Intel 4790K (ordered)
    Case: Corsair Air 540
    Cooling: Corsair H110
    Mobo: GA-Z97X Gaming 5
RAM: 32GB DDR3 (ADATA) @ 1600 (overkill I know, but the sale price was amazing and empty RAM sockets make me sad) may add and AMD RAMdrive.
GPU: Undecided, but leaning towards R290x, recommendations welcome and encouraged.
    PSU: EVGA 850W
OS Drive: Planning to use the SSD at this point, but may pick up a small M.2 drive just for the OS. (I have a problem with empty slots :))
    SSD: SANdisk 480 GB
    HDD: None, not needed.
    Optical: None, not needed.
OS: Win8.1 64 bit pro (love Win7, but 8.1pro was on sale and I want to learn it)
Mouse: Logitech G502 (not ordered yet, waiting for a sale)
Keyboard: Corsair MX RGB Keyboard (Will order, as soon as it's available)
Display: LG 34UM95-P, I love this display (Will order, as soon as it's available)

    Extra's:
Oculus Rift (Consumer edition, when available)
    Saitek X-55 HOTAS
    Saitek Combat rudder pedals
    Track IR 5

I can't wait to play SotA and SC on this beast. Tell me about your system.

Ooh, I like this thread. Nice rig you have there! I upgraded my rig about a year ago and went the AMD route. I liked the multi-threading capability of their Piledriver 8-cores and built the following:

    AMD FX-8320 (overclocked to 4.3ghz - outperforming the 8350)
    ASUS M5A97 Mobo
    8GB G.Skill Ares DDR3 1866 Ram
HIS IceQ Radeon 7870 Ghz Edition - 2GB Ram
    TT Tough-Power modular 675W PSU
120GB OCZ Vertex Plus SSD / WD Caviar Green 500GB HD
Scythe YASYA CPU cooler / SilenX fans
    Cooler Master Cavalier case (black)
Ducky 9008 G2 Pro keyboard, PBT keys
CM Storm Spawn mouse w/hard surface pad

This is a very nice no-nonsense, LOTS of bang for the buck build, I love it!

    Love the keyboard choice!

What settings are you playing SotA at? Have you pledged for SC? If yes how does your system run it?

^ Thank you kind sir, I have really been enjoying it thus far! The keyboard is amazing and it improved my typing speed. The keys feel super solid and I went with Cherry MX Browns on mine for a little feedback. The only thing I may upgrade within the next couple of years is the SSD drive, as I may go with a faster, slightly larger one. No complaints atm though!

I have SotA cranked thus far and am playing at 1920x1080. It runs well, except I get a bit of the typical multi-player lag that everyone (even with jacked up i7 systems) seems to be getting. I did not pledge SC though, so I cannot give you my stats there.

    Tell you about my computer...?

Well - it's a black box with a shiny red panel and some flashing blue lights on the front... :D

Couldn't tell you what's in the box - I get hand-me-downs from my hubby when he upgrades his, so I'd have to figure out what's what - but it runs what I want it to run well enough so far!

I do have a fancy Razer Anansi keyboard, though, and a Logitech G700 mouse (would have bought a Razer one if I'd found one that felt comfortable), both of which I use barely any of the functionality on. (Oh, and two monitors, which hubby had to talk me into but now I love having a second display!)

Yes, I fail miserably at waving my nerd when it comes to PCs... ;)

    Well it's a box.
Actually, I must have been really good this year - as an anniversary present my wife got me a new 'puter (or gave me her blessing to go out and buy one...)

So I am no longer wrestling with the laptop - that's now used solely for work.

    What I have:
    CPU: Intel i7 4820K @ 3.7 Gh
    Motherboard: (I think) ASRock X79 Extreme 6
    16 Gd ddr3 RAM
    2 Tb hybrid HDD
Graphic: NVidia GeForce GTX 760 4 Gb DDR5 RAM
    Monitor: 27" AOC LED 1920x1080
    Bluray player/burner
Cobra E-blue gaming keyboard and mouse
    assorted USB plugs everywhere
    Speakers - err, I use a headset;)
    [Edit - OS Windows 8.1]
    Sota is AWESOME!!

Bought it back in 2011, I think, and the video card was added 6 months ago. Putting off a new system as long as possible, plan to buy a better rig when Star Citizen releases. Runs SOTA pretty well right now as it is.

    Notes

Oooh some nice computers. My gateway gamer was dying a while ago so I went cheap and a little sorry I did, but so far so good. I got a low end Alien, one of the very small machines. So far it has done ok but wish I could go back and upgrade at least to an I5. Oh well. I have a 27 inch asus monitor and a razor mouse and an alien keyboard which I love all of them. Sorry I copied and pasted the world on my system how very boring lol;)

2014 Mac Pro Hex core, 16 gig, dual D700 cards at home, I use what ever OS is on at that time.

Have an Alienware 17 coming (for my work computer) to take to the beach on weekends.

There are some seriously powerful builds in this thread thus far. I can see SotA is drawing some people serious about PC gaming!! I like me some console gaming too, but at the end of the day I need a PC rig that can make my games look and run nice. It's like that sound system that makes your favorite band sound they way they were meant to sound ;) Inspiring.
