Community Hangout ~ Recap and discuss COMBAT

    Hey guys!

    Looking to get a few people from a few different camps here so we can get a balanced discussion about the combat system. The hangout will be taking place Sunday evening at 4PM Pacific, 6PM Central, 7PM Eastern.

    I will provide a link to watch the hangout here in this thread and I will be inviting people to join based on a few from the following categories...

    1. Excited about the design ideas for the deck/combat system and after testing it LOVE IT

    • Guni Had technical problems and was unable to talk so he left the conversation.

    Google hangouts only allow ten people so I will be trying to get at least 2 from each camp so we can have a balanced conversation... please let me know what number best explains your stance and if you're available by replying below!

    Also, if you're not available and want us to hash something out please let us know!!! One of the best topics we had last hangout was PM'd to me by someone who couldn't attend.

    Here's the overview on what we covered last time as some of the topics will likely come back up again this time now that we were able to test things!

    Take aways:

    • Focus in it's own skill point set that either progresses separately from adventure/crafting or possibly is fully available at the start
    • Targeting (issues need fixed plox?)
    • Balancing skills(... yeah release 1 why didn't you get it right yet?!)
    • Auto attack control (start/stop) (... and manual attacks available to hit Lord British/Darkstarr )
    • Parry and Block be active and not passive
    • Spells should cost something to cast
    • Damage should break crowd controlling effects
    • The ability to attack the CC... example: sword slicing roots
    • Having a skill in every armor/defense tree to break CC effects
    • Player collision while in combat or open pvp type zones, not while out of combat or in towns.

    Count me in! Put me under category #1 or #3 as I was between them. I would say I was "nervous but trusting" when I heard their ideas but after playing it I LOVE IT! I want to just spill my review here but I will keep it for the hangout.

    I'll be there to watch! I don't really have a strong opinion about the system other than that I don't think it really adds anything over traditional MMOs. Hopefully the combos really flesh it out. All I would have would be questions that speculate on how that will work once they add them. They still plan on adding them, right?

    I think the system needs to be changed in the sense that skills that get rolled need to have a set box they appear in.

    If I have to pick one, then #1, but there was still a lot of concern while being open minded going into testing and still concern coming out on some issues.

    If that works for the discussion then I would join the hangout.

    Could one of you guys talk about utility skills and buffs that work on other people. I love being able to cast beneficial stuff on other people whether they are grouped or not but someone always tries to find ways to abuse it so that no one can have anything nice so could someone in the hangout talk about things like that?

    MOAR HATERS (never thought I'd say this) WANTED!

    Hey guys! I know this might sound odd but we need some more haters here! If you're against the deck system and have ideas on how to improve it please come share them and lets have a healthy hangout talking about the what/why and see if we get a unified request to bring to the Devs!

    I'll try to find who recommended this in TS3 the other day... but someone came up with a really cool idea of a modifier key allowing you to cast spells on enemy targets (including NPC so you could heal the boss instead of damage it for TRUE chaos!!!). I really liked that idea and think it should be easy enough to get in that we might see it before beta if others like it too... in the situation where we have this key the "grouped or not" is essentially null and void because you'd be able to cast on ANYONE at that point. Is this enough to talk about or would you like to see more conversation on the abuse of the system as well?

    I wont show my cards in advance, but let's just say that I know from convos with a few ppl that there is much that needs to be done with combat still....

    that was a convo a bunch of us had during pvp by your boat... were many of us there in TS3 all at once... oh, and dont worry about haters... i can cover that just as easily as advocating the good of the deck system.... :p ... u can put me in group 2 if you need to categorize ppl...
