SPO should be turned of immediately for Shardfalls and other PVP areas

    So it is official, SPO will NOT be turned of immediately for PvP areas.

    But it will be turned off eventually. :)



    Next topic is... FISHING!!

    It certainly does benefit large guilds doesn't it? I can easily see larger guilds monopolizing these areas for resources.

    I can already see the future...depends on the rewards in the zone now I guess....it almost seems more worthwhile to play offline and have these areas appear.

    It's not officially official. But is present "current thinking". It's still subject to change. I see no real reason for this move apart that it's easier than the alternatives.

    Yeah if there's been but one thing I truly find disappointhing is this kind of trend of making design decisions based more one what's easier to do and often those features seem very artificial and contrived. Skill points and respec for example.. easier to balance than XP based skill progression. The ransom system is another.

    All seriousness, that might be true, but IMO, it might also be a good thing; it will mean the PvE areas that solo gatherers would prefer will be more open and less swamped by the "big guilds".

    I think he was just poking fun?

    Please stop using the "Trammel/Felucca" argument, it's really old news and history... Please get over it...

    Thats not what I said. I said NON-PvP'ers could fight monsters, instead of forcing them to fight PvP'ers.

    Yeah I heard you.

    If you think they are going to create a monster AI that will simulate PvP with only one guy maybe two working on it... it isn't going to happen. So what happens here is if you put monsters in there people will opt out of PvP and go the monster route to gather the precious resources.

    Work smarter not harder.

    If you read earlier I advocated for allowing SPO players to enter these zones, but just not gather as many normal resources and very rarely get the coveted ore that only spawns there.
    Although I think the devs decision to make it fully Mulitplayer PvP enabled zone is just fine though. It solves all the issues just fine, and there is no need to create a PvE version of the map. Problem solved. AMEN

    I think that's right but if the same resources can be gathered in other areas of the map, this type of monopolization won't be as likely to occur. Plus it sets up nicely for guild wars, if you're into that sort of thing.

    If there is a will there is a way. Even if there is an aliance of guilds that creates a SotA mafia that controls these zones... oh well that's just how the world evolved. Maybe they can add some references to that in later episodes. Whatever happens is happening live in the world of New Britannia. There are no other servers.

    If we get a mafia that has absolute control I pray that the devs don't hinder that. We as players need to learn to live with it or start a rebellion. Rebellions don't have to start big. Just small groups that stage an attack here, and an attack there, and it can grow as the rebellion gains public recognition.

    Personally I don't think a maffia will be able to control it forever. People vie for power, others get complacent, and everybody else in the world creates their own team to go wipe them out. If something like a maffia sprang to life I think it is a win for SotA in the long run. Everybody likes to take down the big bad evil society.

    Also if there is a mafia who controls all the special ore, and they choose to horde it rather than let others use it... that would be a very interesting development indeed. They could charge outrageous prices for gear made with it. They could indeed get a powerful hold.

    That's why we need virtuous guilds in this game to come together and create alliances to make sure people are treated fairly. Virtuous guilds that are courageous not passive. No point in putting on armor and wielding a weapon if you aren't ready to use it.
