General Opinion on summons?

Which ones do you guys like? Which ones are worth spec'ing for?

I'm toying around with the Lich at the moment, and I feel as if I put enough points into the passives he'd be quite effective. I could easily be wrong as I am very new.

What do you guys use/like?

 

I toyed around with the summons quite a bit - skeleton, lich and some of the elementals. The AI leaves a lot to be desired - make sure you set the pet aggressive each time you summon or you will find yourself sometimes fighting with the pet stood watching you.

The limited duration based off health drain as opposed to a timer, lack of regen, poor AI and pathing, aggro grabbing and other issues at the moment don't make for very handy pets. Plus if you fizzle and don't have reagents you might not be able to replace a dead pet for a while during combat.

Out of all the pets I tried I found the water elemental to be the most useful (least useless).

 

At the moment all of the summoned creatures are fairly worthless.

The AI is bad.
The cost is high.
And perhaps the worst part about summoned creatures is that they slowly die making them very annoying.

The devs have said that they want summoned creatures to be very powerful and for it to be a big deal when someone casts one. So look for big improvements over time. For right now though, they're pretty frustrating.

AI is bad, cost is high, limited time... I do not use summons. And I can only agree with Drocis on this.

 

I'll say this too, I have a lot of faith that eventually summoned creatures will be very cool.

They look cool. They just don't do anything good right now. They kind of mock you as they stand around watching you get clobbered.

I'm not sure which one I'll eventually want to use. The lich looks the best, imo.

 

Only one more week until there is something I would want t to summon is out.

 

AI Chaotic AI has already been developed for that one.
