Are those other planets going to be orbiting the New Britannia's planet or the sun? If so then the dial can still show them orbiting the planet, but should take in account that there will be times of the year when the other planets appear to have an irregular shift in their orbit. They will appear to go backwards for a short time, then resume course along their orbit again as all the planets move through their solar orbit. I hope that makes sense?

Check some of the old star charts back from the eras where people believed all objects orbited the Earth. It takes what I'm saying into account.

 

Also since the moons collided it might create a more dense portion of the newly created moon that would always face directly toward the centre of the planet it is orbiting.

So if there is a lot of heavy resources like iron on one side of that moon it should always face the planet, and the moon would rotate as it orbits always facing the planet as ours does.

Let us paint it if we want too, every ring/planet independently, at least put the option available for future revisions

Make it magic is a great idea, i would additionally prefer that the entire item is discreet glowing blue when you touch a panel

 

I need to start checking the forums more often, I almost missed out on this, now to decide to upgrade or not....

 

More importantly is how much your avatar looks like he/she is in extremely serious consideration of that very question.

 

All this talk of celestial bodies has me excited for telescopes and observatories. Actually interacting with the sky is an amazing idea - lay on your back and watch the constellations swirl? Maybe if you can spot a shooting star (or catch a falling star) you get a wish (or magic meteor metal)!

I'd like to see crafting of spyglasses, spectacles, telescopes, sextants, compasses, clocks etc.

 

In the moondial, i tink that the spiky thing on the outer ring is the sun. So the cental thing is most likely the planet with New Britannia on it. So we actually have a population without any clue about the star system, or a large white alicorn somewhere, moving around the sun.

Would be intresting to see the mob for earth to go against the producer from the moondial, because of this planetary mistake. Btw. Where is my pitchfork and my torch?

Bob continues building out the Darkstarr Moondial in 3DMax and creating materials in Photoshop. This is Bob's latest Work in Progress with brass and marble for the hand and base. Community what do you think about the marble? Should it be something different, perhaps granite? I would like to know what you think about our material choices! Please share your thoughts with us! Please ignore the floor it is just a generic metal texture.

 

Granite would be interesting to see too. What about obsidian or snowflake obsidian?

I definitely would prefer obsidian for the hand and the base. The shiny black texture of obsidian complements the brass used in the upper portion.
