The greatest explorer finds an unattainable treasure

    So there I was dressed in my finest adventuring gear, wandering around the world. There was a the oddest glint of light through the leaves. I wandered closer and found a cliff face and felt a yearning to explore more. Low and behold, what do a I see but a reflection of the sun off the blade of a sword. Some fool warrior must have lost this many years ago.

    The blade both amazed and terrified me. What craftsman could have created something able to still glean after the many years it must have been lost. But it seemed every step I took towards it cause me great unease.

    I decided a frontal approach to be foolhardy and realized it would be wiser to sneak up on the blade. I hear your laughter, who would think of a blade as being aware of me, but it is surely the truth that it was watching me, mocking me.

    So I bravely dodged between the arrows of the elves in the area, pesky little people they are. I found a bit of cliff wall that seemed easy enough to climb with my years of training, that was both far enough away to not draw the notice of the blade. But unfortunately, it seemed that no matter how hard I climbed, I would always hit a point where my fingers wouldn't find a crevice or my boots would slip and I would slide further down.

    So with a heavy heart, I take on more fond look at this blade that appears to both call to me and repel me at the same time. My mind and soul were willing, but against all odds and all my years of training my body just couldn't approach it.

    Many years have passed since I first laid eyes on it and futilely attempted to approach it. Not a night goes by that visions of the blade steal over my dreams and taunt me, beckon me, call me.

    Woe to any others who fall prey to the sweet siren song of this blade and aren't able to escape its summons. If you see an odd shimmer between the leaves in your journeys, take my advice and flee lest it ensnare you too.

    An Easter Egg left over from R4, it's possible to get up there by jumping to the east (invisible ledges)... That's to the right, from where you were...

    And sadly I posted this shortly before heading to bed... but dreamed of it calling to me... NOW I know it was YOU that was beckoning me. 8^)

    It's like reading a book - because the colour is described to us, the sound written down in black, we fill in all the empty areas and bring the thing to life in our minds, making something of it that may or may not be true or even intended.

    If you take that sword out of the rock, the world will split open.
