Favorite from Ultima History

Greeting everyone!

I'd like to ask everyone one simple question: What person, place, object, event, magic, creature, class, or other thing from the history of the Ultima series would you like to see in Shroud of the Avatar?

Just one, though. And I'd love to know why!

 

Hi and welcome to Shroud of the Avatar. Well I have to say item interactivity, you know like you can place items most anywhere and if it looks like it will open or do something it will. By the way you should come over to my thread. You will see many comments from the community that definitely shows the desire for what you ask about. Anyway the reason why is because it was unique . I loved being able to place almost anything in my back back down on a table etc. So my thread is called the Top 12 Must haves for SOTA. Come over and post yours and be heard Also let me know if I can help in anyway, I am majoria in the game.

 

Xorinia. That would be the wisp aka multi-dimensional information broker. Nice RP tool.

 

Finally making it to Exodus in Ultima 3, and finding out he's a computer and you just have to use some cards on it to win the game.

 

Space Shuttle. So we can add outer space to SotA.

 

Finally achieving the rank of "Avatar" in Ultima 4 by mastering all 8 virtues. Uneblievably difficult at the time before the days of the "internet" and help guides.

Probably took me a year to complete the game, with no hints or tips. I still remember the overwhelming sense of achievement I felt. Looking back, god only knows how many hours of life I poured into that game.....

Only other game that made me feel that way was completing the devilishly brutal Zork 1 after about a year as well. Brutal but satisfying.

I'd say the hot air balloon in the old Ultimas. Just he realization that now one could fly almost anywhere was amazing.

 

Sailing ships (with whirlpools that may transport you to a mysterious place)

 

NPCs with their own personality, motivations as well as complex schedules (no filler NPCs).

Specifically, if Shamino can make an appearance, this will feel like a proper Ultima (style) game to me!

 

Npc characters that you really get to 'know' over time.

Yes and that space shuttle was pretty badass. Made the game seem unlimited, pretty amazing for the 1980s. Parallel Sosarias?

 

I would say that dude in my sig, but I kinda know he is in. At least after a fashion as my reward NPC is based off him. He is a Citizen of Ardoris or was as of Release 8. Figures he'd be in the biggest city and I haven't been able to find him yet. Not to mention he might not remember his name.

 

Yep. The more it frustrates you, the more satisfying it finally was when you "win" and make it to the end. It's funny that a game, supposedly something to be a diversion and a pleasure, can raise blood pressure so much. I guess the "natural high" at the end made the arduous journeys worthwhile.
