It is knowledge if you KNOW what the developers already said despite whatever factor might influence the outcome.
    • You know you're playing a pre-alpha.
    • You know that there will be wipes.
    • You know the words that devs used to express their ideas.
Plan & play accordingly. That's what knowledge is all about.

Catching up on the R18 hangout video, but currently no plans for wipe in R19 (but you will need to respec). The next planned wipe will occur once they implement the item salvage feature (no ETA).

Who is the troll? The op's question was legit, so was the response. I think these guys got into a pissing match over how bloody accurate the response was or was not. the lesson here is more like what my grandma says "if you don't have anything nice to say, stfu".

Your knowledge of what the developers said is based on the reliability of your perception, the medium that presented it to you, the certainty that it actually happened and you weren't just dreaming or mis-remembering, and a number of other variables, however remote, which could affect the reliability of that "knowledge". It's just a very, very safe guess, most would even call it "certainty". My question is, would you bet your life on it?

    Made you hesitate.

I don't routinely go betting my life on matters that are uncertain. In the hangout, Starr even said there COULD be a wipe for R19 if they found something really important in the next week that required a wipe. The truth is, we never know when a wipe is coming "for sure". All you can know is the devs are trying to keep them to a minimum and will let us know in advance when possible.

Its an interesting point that if we don't share info we learn from focus groups and closed hangouts then people cry foul about favouritism and unfair advantage but if we do share it people tell us we are lying and they want to hear it direct from the devs (who are busy and usually don't respond). The fact is that we were told that anything we learned there is not a secret and we should share it with everybody, most of the group stopped doing it since this thread is an example of how much people appreciate it.

You're trying to look deeper into something that is pretty straight-forward. If you want to be philosophical about it: knowledge isn't truth. Nor is it foreseeing the future.

    - Did the developer say anything on the subject? Y/N
    - If (Y), what did they say. X
    - Could (X) be interpreted in a different way? Y/N
    - Is the source reliable? Y/N

That's what knowledge is; one of the fundamentals of science.

I highlighted one of the questions in bold because Themo Lock brings up an excellent point. What's the point of sharing knowledge among fans if most people will scrutinize the information? If you doubt the forums as a reliable sources of information, can you really believe anything you'll ever find on the subject... even from the developers themselves?

If the information is so important to you, why take the lazy route and ask in the forums at all? Look it up yourself.

In any case, the OP got the answer.

P.S. - The only time I'd bet my life on something is if I got something as equally valuable in return... and then I'd win said "something" because my memory is actually reliable.
