Ahhh Vanguard crafting was hard but it had it's fun moments. Crafting quests you did took you all over so that was cool.;)

This crafting system isn't even remotly designed to be "nice and simple".
And i love it for that.
If the crafting system would be simple, i wouldn't even bother to look at it.

I find EVE's manufacturing system slightly oversimplified, go figure.

But the amount of markets it creates (raw ores, ice, ice byproducts, refined ores, components, research/optimization, cap components, salvage+rigs, rev. engineering for T3, PI - with four stages of different intermediate products, station components, etc.) is staggering.

I can envision at least six markets where it'll be nice to compete:

    1) raw materials (maple wood)
    2) reagents
    3) refined/intermediate materials (maple timber)
    4) components/advanced materials (hard maple timber)
    5) finished items
    6) elite/enchanted/top tier finished items

And every one of them requires expert craftsmen (either gatherers, refiners or producers, hardly someone who masters two or more subtrees!) and expert traders to yield significant profit.

Anything much more simplified than this would be somewhat of a disappointment.

I've found the crafting experience to be OK in terms of complexity and usability. One thing I would want is that after doing one item correctly, that one could then put in multiples of the ingredients to get multiple units out with corresponding usage on the tools. Say an iron hilt takes a smithing hammer, two iron ingots and a chunk of coal. After I have made one, I could then plop a smithing hammer, 10 iron ingots and 5 chunks of coal to produce five iron hilts in one go. The smithing hammer would have about 5 uses subtracted from it. Maybe some variation of tool usage would occur with experience to say only 4 uses for 5 items or something.
