Okay my third day here, I am having so much fun I upgraded my account to 'Developer' status! Which means I get a land deed! sure enough it showed up in my bank and I took it to a empty town slot... clicked on the "For Sale sign in an npc town.. and in the window that appears.. I see my deed. When I click on the deed however, I cannot select the "Claim this area" button.

So what am I still doing wrong?

    1) double check if place is for sale
    2) double check you put your deed in your backpack
    3) make sure the deed you have matches the lot size for sale
    4) click on the button at the bottom of the box that says claim lot after highlighting the deed in your list

There are variations in lot deeds, row, village, city, keep and castle. With a row deed you can only claim a row lot. So are you sure you tried to claim a lot that is suitable for your lot?

Some extra info about lots: If you get a city lot deed for example you claim a row or village lot with it as well. You can't however claim a keep or castle lot with it.

You will likely need to claim one in a player owned town, the row lots in NPC towns go fast. If you need somewhere message me in game and i will hook you up.

Welcome to the forums and game! There are lots of row lots available in Ardoris, which is a public city, and in other public cities row lots usually don't exist. Just a note: There are public towns and Player Owned Towns. Public towns house lots come with what you bought for the game and are free. Player Owned Town lots may, or may not, be free. For the pre-alpha version of the game, many POT owners are not charging for a lot. After release, they may or may not.

Because there are currently so many Player Owned Towns (far more than public towns), most of the public towns have plenty of availability.

Here is a thread for newcomers to check out house lot availablity. If people know other towns, please be free to contribute!

Actually, the town criers don't report the correct number of available lots in town.
Last time I checked Ardoris, there was only one available row lot, even though the town crier told me there were many lots available, including a keep and all of the water lots.

It would be really nice if they fixed that bug.

Also, it's always a good thing to check availability of public towns and report the bug to that forum thread.

Are you sure you're not checking shortly after entering the scene?

The lots are only calculated as you load them onto your client. The longer you wait, sometimes the count changes, especially if you're in a large city like Ardoris.

Try giving it 15 minutes and then checking again.

That is indeed what the responses to the bug report say.

Oops, I should've read the whole thing. :)

I was going to post this as a bug weeks ago myself until I figured it out.

Still, it needs to be addressed. The bug is actually that it takes so freakin long from the time you enter the scene.

Athanil, if you want a sure thing, without the search of public towns, there are lots of Player Owned Towns set up like this, where you're guaranteed a lot at launch, for a fee.

    Blackstone Bluff

Welcome Axiomaticstatic and congratulations on your upgrade. Also our town Wizards Rest has a few Row lots if you need a place to live, no taxes will be charged. It is a village sized town near Owlshead and will have a snowy biome next release since snowy biome template should come in then. Good luck on your journey to get your home. I am majoria in the game if you need help anytime or want to chat or checkout Wizards Rest:)
