    While we're on this creepy subject, candles made from corpse-wax were said to be "used by the living to raise the dead", and candles made from human fat were said to keep a person asleep as long as they were lit.

    Fats were also used to make ointments used for different purposes... andhuman fat became reputed as having magical properties, used by sorcerers and witches. It was said to be used the witches' flying ointment, and curatively -- and the fat of priestly martyrs, as well as eunuchs, was thought to be most effective, and some recipes called for 'eunuch fat.' The victims of St. Bartholemew’s massacre are known to be taken to the apothecaries to have their fat made into a salve.

    So I guess that means that the most virtuous avatars have the most valuable fat.
