How to make Halloween Meaningful for Shroud of the Avatar

Hello Community.


I did read into the history a little of Halloween.
And therefore i would have the following suggestion.


Port does an Event - a simple one to create i hope.


On the first of November Dead Souls will walk the Earth regarding the Halloween tradition.
Portalarium will do the same on Novia!



They will unleash all the skeletons and zombies and ghosts everywhere in the game in hordes running towns and POT , and even on private owned Lots.
There will be no save area anywhere.

The Add On Items will have a purpose, just like the tradition of Halloween in the medieval times had them in mind.

A)


If you are wearing a Dead Mans Mask you will be ignored. You will not get attacked from the Event Monsters.
As you are considered on of them.
The Same for the Headless and the Zombie Masks.

B)


- If you are wearing a Pumkin Mask, or if you are placing Halloween Pumkins in your yard they will do what the purpose of them are in Halloween - scare the Event Monsters away.

So they mosters will keep distance from all the Pumkins placed.

This means you as a gamer can decide to protect areas with Pumkins, or you can force them away with your masks into a corner to kill them.
Or you can scare them towards a Grim Reaper Statue to dispell them




C)


If you place a Grim Reaper Statue in your Garden - it does not scare the Event Monsters away - it does even more - it pulls them back into the other dimmension they came from - means they are dispelled.




This would be my suggestion to give the hole idea of Halloween a reason on Novia. And also all the Items a reason why they exist and are used.

I'd love to see in game events where the devs act as GMs. However, I think that should be more for post-launch. Until then, the devs should be focused on finishing the game.

But perhaps there is a community event we can run.

Amazing ideas. A bit of coding involved but would really make for a fun event. My only fear is giving add on store items special abilities can sometimes be considered pay to win. The fix could be making a crafted, similar set, have similar effects.

I think that's a great idea, and I think all the devs deserve a free day of carousing and mayhem wreaking. I remember back in the day when the GMs in UO would attack a town (unscheduled) and it would be overrun with nearly immortal trolls. Everyone joined in the fray trying to kill the intruders. There was wonderful chaos and revelry, and lots of deaths.

Maybe, instead of using the hats and masks from the add-on store, we could have an event in graveyards fighting the undead or, perhaps, a few special monsters could be created just for the event, from which we could loot masks of the dead that have the ability to offer some protection from roving monsters.

 

...and someone gets to play chess with Death
