Scrap also encourages you to do something different for a while. Mine for a while, get too much ore. Fight skeletons or bandits for a while, catch up on your ores and adventuring XP.

Leave Owls Head - take the overland map - head to Kingsport - take the trail north along the shore - cross the river - turn left and continue west on the north side of the river. Owls Nest is right there.

Good idea! I've always just sold any looted weapons. I'll give scrapping them a try. :)

i find Kingsroad a good place to gather up some rusty swords. the skeletons are easy. it's also good to gather a few iron & Copper nodes as well. once 'm done gathering up enough swords, i'm off to use them for scrap metal. much easier using the scrap metal for 1 to 1 node to ingot.

I found a few uncut emeralds and garnets...is it possible to turn them into normal emeralds and garnets?

Yes. An alchemy recipe does this for the emerald

uncut sapphire gem, mandrake, creosote w/ Mortar pestle

The garnet is used with emerald gems when making a jeweled longsword - different kind of undertaking.

Together with my trusty pet chest mimic, renamed "The Luggage" after Sir Terry Pratchett's discworld charater, we are farming Kingsroad and Kingsway North for skeletons. The ore nodes come in handy too. Thanks for the tip.

When set to aggressive mode, my pet mimic rushes off and kills everything in sight, so I can just stand back and harvest loot from whatever it kills. Other than the odd healing spell, I don't have to do much. :)

Now I'm looking for some Spider Carapaces to enable me to make hardened leather.

Aren't the chest mimics adorable? :)

In the past I have found Spider Carapaces only in cotton bushes in higher level areas. If you find any in Kingsroad or other beginner area, let us know :)

Oh yes. I love their panting wheezy breath as they come bouncing after you. Makes me chuckle all the time.

I did find Spider Carapaces in Kingsway North in previous releases, but none in R24. Alas, I just sold all of that stuff. How I'm kicking myself now.

I know I've found spider carapace in a random Perennial Trail instance in the last week or so, though most of mine comes from higher tier nodes.
