SotA in 7th Place for Most Anticipated Titles

A lot of us were on dial up in those days. I remember taking turns killing ogre lords and watching out for people when it was their turn in case they looked like they had gone link dead so that you could invis them and save them the trouble of dying and not lose any fame.

I'm just happy Abe was able to make the overhead map look so much better than it did. He made a lot of things look so much better. That guy had talent, soooo miss his work. I wonder how much better things would look if he were still around.

You guys have a serious case of "grass is greener on the other side" syndrome. I've been on the sideline in regards to SotA, I've been waiting till it get's closer to launch to buy. But I decided to just give them my money and jump in and check it out. So this is coming from someone who has never played a single Lord British game.

This game has some serious potential. I played for about 45 minutes and the graphic fidelity is ok, but the art direction so far is very very good. The character models are blah and need some attention paid to them, combat has an interesting system that has some potential, but needs a lot of obvious touches put to it, for example how about the sound of swords clashing for a start?? lol. But for me, what stands out to me about this game is its really about community. I mean what MMORPG in existence gives you a calendar of social events that have nothing to do with your typical raiding and dungeon crawl. I think if the SotA devs keep pushing down the direction of (dare i say) life simulator, and not your typical hack and slash game then you will get a loyal following.

Some things i like so far:
-Music
-Social events
-Crafting system looks yummy
-Art direction
-UI - could be slightly higher res, i run 1440
-Radio
-Just an overall willingness to be different

Some things that were "meh":
-Sound effects
-Characters
-Combat has potential to be different, but needs to be tweaked; i want to have a feeling of being struck by or strickin my enemy. Right now there is nothing, no sound, no blood, no animations.

Part of me doesn't want to keep exploring to keep it all a surprise when it gets to the final wipe, but I also want support the team too.

My encouragement is to keep pushing the metagame and give lots of different reasons for me to log in and spend my precious hours. Social, crafting, economy, farming, exploring, group questing, large group questing and pvp.

Welcome SamRothstein to Shroud of the Avatar. You gave wonderful and positive feedback. So one good thing is a person who is solely in charge of sound has recently been hired so hopefully soon we will hear those swords clash, well in my case it's a 2 handed axe and so much more. He definitely has his work cut out for him. Animations are still needed in so many things and yes to character improvements which are suppose to be coming.
