Did you pay to win? How much? Does that mean the game is over? Do you have proof?

Honestly can people stop being so obtuse over what people mean when they believe something looks pay2win. They don't mean you literally get the credits roll and 100% achievements on steam.

Would that be winning? What do they mean then?

You get a receipt, don't even need to log in to win.

It's a way to get you to break the rules, just don't feed into it. I think we all lose if the majority of people feel the way they do in the comments section of that article. It's not by any means a good thing and it should be concerning and not much of a joke.

Since we don't know what the majority of people think, how do we win by speculating? It seems like that could easily lead us towards overly dramatic and wild assumptions about all kinds of things.

I'm merely using the comments section from that article(you really should read them)...I am not even getting into the steam, reddit or other forums.

Just because someone calls the game p2w does not make it so. Should we all agree with every statement ever made?

Pay to win: purchase healing potions from the store. Healing potions are only available from the store. Using healing potions makes you unkillable in combat.
Not pay to win: purchasing healing potions from the store. Healing potions can be crafted easily.
Not pay to win: purchasing healing potions from the store. Healing potions are very restricted in combat.

Pay to win is an advantage over other people for using $ over people that are unwilling to use $. That is not the case here.

I don't think random internet comments are very helpful. I've heard that sometimes they are less than 100% accurate or reliable or intelligent or without ulterior motives or without prejudice.

    They're sometimes funny though.

I guess, if you call people commenting on an article about the game "random".

I do. It's been proven by NPR that most comments on the internet are made by people that only read the title of an article and then immediately post comments. People love to give opinions about everything, even when they're wrong.

That and it's also proven that people will make more than one account to continually repost their bias.

    i stoped reading here:

wrong wrong wrong. you can place a village deed in a metropolis. it doesn't matter what size the TOWN is... you can also place a village deed in a row marker to get the row lot.

Yet you put stock into comments on a site that is likely full of them?

I'm flying on a plane right now. Four hour flight. The airline offers WiFi for $2 an hour. After doing some work, I tried to sleep. But I'm sitting right next to a 5 year old kid that can't sit still. So I decided to pay $4 for 2 hours of internet access.

Now the kid's dad didn't want to spend the money on WiFi even though he clearly couldn't stay off his iPhone prior to take off. But that didn't stop him from buying an $8 beer.

What's funny is that I haven't heard a single person say "pay2win!!!!!1!!!". Because even though everyone may like it more if a plane trip included free beer and free WiFi, it appears people on my flight understand that you get what you pay for.

Now the irony of comparing a video game to the airline industry is not lost on me. Nor is the idea that video game have a lot more choices for consumers to choose from. I just find the realism that you pay for what you get to be noticeable here, and I think if perhaps I was given the option to get WiFi or a beer using in-game gold from SOTA, the last thing I'd be doing is complaining about it.

I wish real life had an alternate currency I could farm by playing a game.

Moral of the story; when you have that son that won't sit still, get the beer over the wifi.
