pre-R26, it was possible for me to create decent sounding drum files for songs. They were a bit tedious to edit, but the varying pitch allowed tom and timpani-like effects, which sounded awsome. the highest pitches provided the stick-clicking noise as well, so the dru, while nto mimicing a modern drum kit, could perform sounds tha were fitting in songs where ktis were used.

And itnaturally sounded better for songs that required Timpani.

Now all you can do is boom, or click, or soem alterating boom-click. And i am not satisfied with it in any song that isnt a double-bass driven metal kinda thing.

I think if yall could make them capable of playing multiple notes simultaneously then it's possible to get them to sound better for songs that are outside the double-bass kickin metal genre

Cuz right now it's doing what the flute does. Only 1 note at a time. Boom, or click. Never boom and click

Thanks for the feedback! The drum/ Instrument noises are defiantly going through some changes as we learn more about what you guys like best in your musical kit. Ill see what we can do about the pitch and playing multiple sounds at once.

Yes! Me and arkah are part of a band, and music is our life! lol we love the music in this game you can create.
But yea the drum change was a weird one, we can do less with them now and they sound way worse.
Took me a good while to find the correct sound that paired with the "snare".
And most songs default bass sound is the really soft one that you cant hear over any other instruments.

So any song you want to do with drum, takes a lot of back end editing to sound correct. Otherwise is a bunch of high low sounds back and forth.
    Please change it back :)

Do it for the Leo's! ty

some sounds for drums to concider:

    Rim shots
Side of the drums hits (sounds kinda like wood blocks)

one or two of these unconventional sounds and editable, would allow us to create many more effects (high hats, and other more subtle accompanying sounds)

While we are at it, any recommendations for some kit ideas? Assuming we can have multiple kits to choose from. I think it would be great to have different drum sets such as a "taiko" or "snare" kits.

A snare would be nice. And the ability to start a marching band :p

It's not drums but the Bassist in me would like to see a bass instrument!

And the polack in me would like to see an accordion... I'd probably be alone on that one lol

Perhaps this could be solved by offering several drum options? We currently just have the tabor...but wouldn't it be cool to have things like a djembe, bongos, snare drum, bass drum, and other variants so that we could fine tune the sound?

Sure that's probably in NFE1 territory, but it would solve the problem in the long run.

Blatant plug for playable concertinas in game is blatant.

o wow yea, being able to switch different kits would be cool, though Im not sure how it would work to combine those sounds, or if you could switch kits mid song to get ur bass and snare sounds.

But yea Tenor, Snare, Timpani, And the Woodblock/Rim shot sounds would be amazing.
    I could see like:

    1-4 Bass / 5-7 Snare / 8 Rimshot
    ctrl+1-4 Tenor / ctrl+5-7 Timpani / ctrl+8 Woodblock

and also yes, the harp needs to be turned down about 10-15% in volume.

the Cordovian drum doesn't sound too bad. but there could be different sounds rather than just chromatic pitched drums through different octaves.
More drum instruments would be nice as well.. Maybe some sort of GUI element to combine the .abc files on your HD with a means to make music scrolls?
I thought that was coming I haven't heard the most recent plans.

I'm not sure if this will help, but here are a few videos of how drums were handled in LoTRO so that there were a variety of sounds to chose from. There are many more on Youtube:

I think you'd be suprised how much a tamborine would bring to it.
Snare and crash cymbals would be cool too.

Soemthing liek this could be done, if your worried about the look of the drum vs how it sounds, you can put tamborine things on the drum, add the tom-like sound and bass, and bring int he side-tap woodblock noise leo talked about and it would accomplish this without havign to have 5 people to play a drum track

Also, differnt drum sounds could be from differnt drum sticks.

Id love some of these (at least the sounds) to play some really slick jazz pieces.
