I wish I had an answer to this that wasn't 100% cynical. ;)

Responses from the devs like this one give me some hope, however. :)

No kilt is complete without the Burlingtons...give knee high socks with it.

Since the traditional kilt does not have pockets, the sporran serves as a wallet and container for any other necessary personal items.

Sporran is essentially, Gaelic for 'purse'. Non-Scotts wore belt pouches for the same reason - because clothes of that era didn't have pockets.

Since gold doesn't exist in any physical form in SotA, we can pretend our gold is in our Sporrans, since they don't exist in any physical form in the game either. :p

Currently the weight of the kilt is 2 pounds. That is an awful lot of weight for a mini skirt. Heck 2 pounds of cotton is just an awful lot of fabric. I think the weight on this item should be about .5 pounds

A proper kilt is very heavy, i believe it's supposed to use 7 yards of wool fabric. The miniskirt variety when they release it separately should be much lighter, I agree. ;-)

As long as female only chars wear the female ones ... Would look darn right silly to see male chars running around in the female outfits, darn right sick if you ask me ... UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh my goodness, what are we living in the early 20th century? Please have some measure of respect. If the in-game culture should react negatively to nakedness and cross-dressing, so be it, but there's no good reason to prevent players from having the freedom of choice. What's 'sick' and 'silly' is purely a matter of personal opinion.

I think we should all be able to dress as we like. I don't think the ladies should be forced to dress a certain way.. so therefore, neither should the guys. Am I fond of all the men running around in ladies lingerie? Well, no.. but it doesn't hurt anything and makes their wearers happy, so go for it!

And that was my personal opinion .though a bit harsh sorry for that.. Just hope we don't go in the way of all those foreign games where they push the limits too dang far .... I am all for choice as long as it doesn't get too offensive...

not for this thread, but the question is: where is the line drawn? what is "too far" exactly?

back to thread: i see zero problems with offering the ability for the male avatar to utilize the female short kilt, and female long kilt. i'm not including the female regular kilt, because it is basically unisex anyway (not in cut, but in length, and that is what i believe you are pointing at). i also see no problems with women wearing the long kilts medium kilts, and short kilts. having contradictory requirements based on one group of peoples 'fashion sense' or 'cultural bias' is just silly, to me. this is something the devs should leavve to the community to police, or not, as they see fit.in certain company having a male avatar in a female mini skirt is perfectly acceptable, and that experience should not be ruined because some people like to be the PC Police, in the name of declarative "decency"

Also not for this thread really but i just wanted to say that through out the game/forums as a whole, generally the backers here are a very open minded grouping. I have rarely seen any discrimination in relation to race/gender/sexuality/beliefs etc and when any is, it is dealt with by the players in a mature and respectful, educating manner. The game and forums should be about fun and live and let live, what suits one doesn't suit another always of course, and its good to see most are open to others differences even if they don't agree or understand. Have a pat on the back all :)
