Too many POTs will be the the death of NPC towns and city's. I have never seen so many empty city's and towns. I have visited many POTs and they are just as empty. Trade is so bad I have resorted to eating rats.

Old News are old but yeah.
Even i, as a PoT owner, have to agree.
    We got some issues there.
The new player Bundles might ease those Problems but I still not convinced.

Before Final Wipe, I tend not to consider relevant the perception of population density.

Many, many players are just waiting for persistence to kick in.

So you think we have enough deeds for all the lots?

    Me too.

And, honestly, I'm a bit worried. If the fabled Promised Land of persistence is a failed promise, no matter how hard they worked and how deeply we drained our disposable income, the resulting wasteland may be nothing short of depressing.
    No idea.

    Depends on these values:

    - How many pledge deeds are there.
    - How many add-on store deeds have been sold.
    - How many NPC towns are there (ideally, the number above + 30%)
    - How many, and how big, POTs are there.

I have partial data on some of the above figures. I find hard to believe every lot will be populated, but in the very best premium areas.

Don't quote me, tho. I'm not sure of anything anymore, since a few weeks.

Its a leap of faith to "launch" the game by calling it persistence.... Right now the game not only suffers from bad design decisions and incompleteness, but also from lack of people playing it.
The few guys that will be playing more than now will be gone in a couple of month if game doesn't change big time.

If I were King of the lands I would have held off on POT's until all the NPC towns were bursting at the seams. Then a gradual release with each update.

I have started to think of my Holdfast as a nice large wilderness lot (Way bigger than those tiny Lord of the Manor Lots).
It should be a lot of fun decorating, once the game goes permanent live.
If other people like it and want to live there great. If not it doesn't really matter.

Not a chance just means more spaces will not be so contested for.

    You already answered my question.
Even if every PoT would be a private scene we still would have 30% more lots in NPC and prt towns than sold in pledges and in the store.
But the majority of PoTs aren't private.
We will have a massive surplus of lots over deeds.
So we will see a lot of deserted citys.

If the game is fun and successful then the NPC towns will be packed. If not, then I doubt the number of PoTs in the game will make much difference.

I think it is good that there aren't enough lot deeds for all the available lots at the time of the Final Wipe. I'm one of those folks who believe that the game will be more successful if property ownership is not as "rare and limited" as some folks want it to be. I believe that lot deeds should be introduced bit by bit, so that in a year from now a newbie starting out will still have a chance to work his way up to obtaining a lot somewhere with in-game means.

I do think that at the Final Wipe the unique NPC towns will fill up rapidly. Up to now, too many folks with pledges aren't even bothering to claim lots. As a matter of fact, I am carrying around a rent-free row lot deed belonging to a guildmate looking for a newbie to give it to until the Final Wipe.

Personally I would rather have a choice to live in a well thought out and personalized POT than living in some lag ridden NPC towns with 17k different themes all crammed together -- In a word --Yuck!!! -- although I will say I have seen a couple of nice well thought out NPC towns but for me its still not enough to attract me to live there.

    PoTs are awesome.
One of only things that sets this game apart from the others.

Take them away and you kill the game, the end.

    If you're keeping track...

Dawn's Keep will have 72 Row Lots and 60 Village Lots available for Avatars to claim.

The number of Village Lots may drop to 56 depending on a few factors, including the answer to a question I have submitted for the Hangout of the Avatar this afternoon.

I've hatched another plan to provide more services to my residents, but don't yet know if it will work.
