The thieving skill is out of control. Its virtually impossible to tell your having your items taken. No message in chat, no way to stop the thief, and it can be used on both people flagged PvP and non-PvP. Your left robbed blind and forced to pay a ransom to get items back that gets very expensive. This system needs to be reworked a.s.a.p. as it is much to powerful for thieves and completely unbalanced. Please look into this and address the problem before July 28th.

I can confirm this claim. I can pickpocket anyone regardless of their pvp flag and regardless of my own. I'm blue and can steal from another blue.

Agree! I don't mind the stealing skill at all but there should at least be a warning of some sort for those that fall victim to a thief ;)

But it does need to be discussed because if a message comes up every time someone steals from a pvp flagged person, the thief will never actually receive the loot and it will turn into a 500 gold per hour max profession that no one will ever use.

I haven't testing this myself, but figured it was true. Noticed some shady Avatar's hanging around me when I was AFK (with no PVP flag) who would then follow me if I moved. Fun!

    You should /bug this.

Us innocents need a trapping skill. We should be able to apply an explosion spell to various items carried in our packs. Or better yet, a poison gas spell.

I agree it is out of control. If something isn't done there will be a lot of griefing reports. We need a way to protect ourselves from people who think it's great fun to hang out at the crafting areas. Or make the crafting areas off limits.

Sounds to me like you encountered a bug? o_O

    Pickpocketing

The Pickpocketing skill (from the Subterfuge skill tree) allows Avatars to steal from one another without resorting to violence. Both the Pickpocketer and their potential victim must be flagged for PvP or in a scene that permits it. You may not attempt to pickpocket party members. A Pickpocket attempt requires being close to the victim and takes several seconds.

Or you were PvP and asked for it? o_O
It's got to be a bug if a thief can pickpocket any non-PvP flagged player by the instructions I'm reading from...
Our you're just in an area that permits it... "then I have no sympathy for you" :D

 Because I want pickpocketing expanded with it's own area for more dramatic success ;)

I was not PVP. I would agree if I were PVP then yes I would expect that to happen and would take out anything important before going PVP.

Definitely not PVP. Me and Amethyst there just had 91 silver ingots lifted from her while neither us nor the thief (Juko) were PVP. In Brittany, at the crafting pavilion near the docks. This has to get fixed...or we have to have some way to defend against it.

Fair enough, Juko. I didn't see that when I saw you visible for a few moments...thanks for clearing it up.

Good suggestion, Womby ;) I really don't want to spend my time constantly casting Reveal Hidden in Owls Head (and other places) to spot the pickpockets :( (This used to stun them and render them visible if you cast it before they successfully pickpocketed you  Don't know if that still works that way anymore )

Yeah pickpocketing seems to be quite broken at the moment, but I look at it as a unique time in game development and try to enjoy as I know it won't last with such a great dev team ;)

Agreed, and the current workaround would be friends-only-online mode or single-player-online mode. That way, you only see people you trust, and/or yourself. ;)
