    When it was original put up, I didn't think anything of it.

    I then noticed someone else asking the question if it complied with the ebay terms of service and after reading it myself I wasn't sure. So I did a search on ebay for reliquaries and sure enough there were hundreds if not thousands of them (with blood) on ebay. So it will be interesting to see why it was pulled. My guess is that it was stupid people being stupid.

    I'm not so sure about that. Anyone who is willing to spend $5k or more on a pledge for this game probably is already a backer at some level. A few years into the project, I doubt there are a lot of prospective new backers waiting around to shell out that kind of money as a brand new backer.

    This is an excellent idea and one that I would certainly contribute to.

    That's just it, I always do. I don't make claims that "a lot of people" think this way, or "this is really bad for us" or "most [insert group here] will see it like this".

    Or "for a gaming company this size that's not very much money over 3 years". Because if you're talking for other people that you don't represent or have knowledge of, then you clearly are speaking from a position that is uneducated. Did you know that Richard has put his own money into this game? Did you know that Portalarium has "investors" of some sort beyond the public funding? The only reason I know these things is because Richard has on occasion let this slip during various hangouts. So we don't know how much money they have beyond the 9 million, it's likely not a great deal more, but hey why speculated on that and make alarming threads based on ignorance? What purpose does that serve? I would say that it serves only one purpose, rhetoric.

    Either way it generated fantastic press...and it's not the worst marketing idea there's ever been. Not by a long shot. :)
