    Hello,

I am still undecided between using a bow or polearms but I was wondering which armor should I use? I would like to be able to cast quite a bit so I would imagine that I should stick to light armor so I have less of a fizzle chance. Any tips/advice?

you don't have to choose one only. there's a set bonus for having all the same type, but depending on what combinations you come up with it may or may not be worth it. the skills are just based on your chest piece. a chain chest with the rest light would give you the heavy skills and more protection than light alone, without too much fizzle. a leather chest with the rest heavy would give you the light skills and more speed, without sacrificing too much protection.

Depends on what I'm fighting... as I can change armor depending on where I'm headed out to :)
I prefer light, yet heavy hitting types of monsters I then prefer heavier armor.
So... "I choose to be skilled in both" ;)

This may be true now but they are working on a change, to that if they have not yet implemented it, so you should not get the skills unless you have the set bonus. So missing and matching pieces could be viable it would not allow you to use skills.

As for you choice, it is all personal and since there is so much left to do to even consider it even close to be a finished / balanced system everything you do now is still very rudimentary.

At this time the only major affect is fizzle chance. ALOT more work on this to come .

What? Why would which gloves I'm wearing keep me from sprinting?

I guess this topic is a good place for some questions considering armor:

Is there any light armor helmets?

Do helmets count for set bonus?

Do simple cosmetic hats count as set piece of the light armor bonus set?

Ally oop. When I put on my chain chest piece, with the rest of my cloth, Because it ruins the set bonus, I lose resistance, but my avoidance go up a tiny bit.

Now, for some input about armor. If you are wearing full heavy armor, you are going to have to much fizzle for death shield. Death shield is a powerful defensive ability vs physical attacks. I am a shield mage and with buffs, I can get my res to 58.7 with at 23% avoidance, and death shield healing me for 26% of any physical damage taken. Buffs I use, Death shield, ice shield, defensive stance, earth embrace, and bolster balance. In my earth build, I use my chain chest piece to have the extra str innate and buff that increase my earth damage.

I'm going with light armor for my main. I like the speed boost while running and not having to change in/out. I usually play an archer in most games; but, toyed with the idea in low levels of light armor w/pole arms in R31. Yes I am a freak; but, pole arms would fit my RP of a fisherman better than a bow.

I'd be better off as a mage/polearm/light armor mix.. maybe. lol
