Is this still happening? I thought it was going to be fixed in a patch.

I deleted my character, made a new one and then it worked the next time.

Considering how slow the stand-alone client is updating (1 MB DL on my 120MB circuit) I'll give that a try through Steam

EDIT: Nope, no such luck, deleted the char and ran through again, same crash

EDIT: Stand-alone client updated, logged in, and got through fine.

Same error when I double-click the mirror.

Still broken for me when starting via Steam giving the following error:

Shroud of the Avatar.exe caused an Access Violation (0xc0000005)
in module Shroud of the Avatar.exe at 0033:93b70565.

So I figured it doesn't have access to certain files it should have access to. Starting the game directly from the steamApp folder with "run as administrator" fixes the issue for me.
You have to manually provide your login credentials since it's not booted via Steam.

Still think it should work via Steam directly...

Still can't play a game that I tried to help and beta test for over a year. Seriously screw this dumb ****. I see why old people are so jaded after so many disappointments in life.

tried to play rel32 for the first time today after having been gone since R20 or so. Could not get past the mirror. Argh. Would have hoped for more progress. Tried the workaround to manually start the exe from steam folder with admin rights, but no dice - still crashes at the mirror.

Yeah man, it's disheartening to see a game-breaking bug ignored for so many days. It's not like they can afford to lose any paying customers with the tiny player base.

This issue is not being ignored. We have stated we are aware of it, and have prioritized our resources toward its resolution. Thank you for the continued report.

OK, it's even more disheartening that this is a priority issue, and you guys still haven't managed to fix it.

Many crashing issues are engine-specific, and rely upon the continued cooperation of the Unity developers, and not just our team, to discover solutions.

Breathe deep. We're working on it.

I managed to get past the mirror by trying a multiple times in succession. Once it worked I created a new character, tried again and it worked again. Weird but at least I can play :)
