If you put items in a public cache chest then you should expect them to be taken.

Its also a good reminder that things people place in SPO can be stolen in MPO.

In defense of the homeowner, here's an item from the 460 patch notes:
Before patch 460, the homeowner probably had it set to private.

Hmm, as long as it resembles something that Berek can pin as an fyi to the forums, I'll be satisfied with a pm and I will allow them to remain 100% anonymous.

    And vice-versa.

[edit] Also, it's not stealing if the items are in a public cache chest.

Putting it in a public cache chest is giving permission by its very nature.

The embarrassing effect those words would have on the home owners in that thread remains the same - does it not ?

That's what happens when you let Kender run loose in the cities! Every time I pass one on the the road, my pockets suddenly feel lighter and the pesky Kender somehow manages to find articles that I must have "dropped".

You'll have to ask them. I make no judgement on the people that own the homes, they paid for a knight home and they got one.

My feeling is that the developers should have (past tense) and should (present and future tense) attempt to make the situation better (i.e. less stupid). Personally, I had an opportunity to use my village deed on one of those water lots and I decided not to specifically because there was ONE lighthouse there already. I didn't want to live in a light house, but because living there would've meant being next door to a lighthouse (on the river) I choose another lot in the same town. As a player, I chose not to contribute to the problem, but I also chose to go to the forums and provide feedback about the problem. Feedback that the devs have expressed in the past that they also feel strongly about.

It's unfortunate we have so many other items that need fixed or built that no doubt trump the lighthouse problem. Such is life.

You can impose rules in your own POT but this will never be "fixed".

The person in question probably didn't realize the settings, this is understandable. No need to publicly embarrass them here. We'll follow up.

Also, a reminder that we do have an MOTD in-game currently in place about the permissions settings.
