Seriously guys... this is a really critical issue, some may not think so but those of us without houses understand it quite clearly.

It doesn't work in inventory, it doesn't work in packs or bags and MOST importantly (where we have item quantity limits) in the BANK.

It's broken... it needs immediate attention.

Yes I've bug reported it, complained about it for a long time... and its really killing my game.

    PLEASE FIX IT

Before I get drunk come home become a jerk posting yet another complaint about it and make Berek have to ban me from forums for being rude... again.

    Sincerely,
    Trying To Be Patient

I'd be willing to accept a button, rather than making it full auto.

The only work-around I have found is to drag all the items (or row of items with Shift) onto my Avatar, where they do sort in stacks, then put them back in the chest/bank vault.

Dragging things onto myself doesn't stack them either.
If left unchecked, I'll end up with dozens of piles of 1-2 items.
The only way to avoid this is to manually scroll to the stack of whatever it is and drag the new item from inventory to bank (or box) directly on top of the existing item.
If not, then a massive cleanup exercise is later required.

On a related note, some items when you try to drag the stack only drag a single item unless you hold shift and enter the full quantity, such as a stack of apples. I notice this most with fruit/veg type items. Also very frustrating.

I agree, the stacking and un-stacking of items are not consistent, Different items behave differently and it messes me up all the time. I'm sure they will figure this out before launch. That's why we are here in early access, so we can work through all the frustrations before the masses hit Novia.

For Me I accidentally clicked the Take All button I believe on my storage chest, which when all came into my inventory was auto stacked, but I was way overweight. Although then you have to manage your pack and put back into the chest big pain too.

10 or more for sure, actually :) ... possibly since the inventory list was created in fact...

There are items that you cannot stack even manually.
Has anyone been able to stack blank papers? I can't. Same with blank books.
And it's not reasonable that you need one slot per sheet of paper...

    They don't for me.

This to me was a no brainer two plus years ago... which is one of those things that makes me wonder if the programmers are so old they don't know that computers exist and are capable of stacking items for them... but hey I'm buzzed and this is my first plug at being a jerk and making Berek take notice.

    Fix it...

This is one of the fundamental issues that drives me nuts. Along with the inability to move certain UI elements.

Some items have a zero value version that don't stack with the version that has value. Reagents are an example of this.

I thought there was a button to "auto stack". doesnt seem to work though?

Truly feel sorry for the folks without houses. My bank was full in a few days.
