aye, man it was intense hehe. It was a race back to your corpse to find that the damn monster took your heal reagents and your chestpiece. I died many times just trying to get my stuff back, but you know what, when you did it was rewarding. It had a sense of accomplishment. I miss that actually.

well some are left. Some check in once in awhile. Most have been driven away by not so polite community members and the report button.

I am still active on a Free Shard, I was just in dungeon Deceit today actually. UO is still the greatest game ever to me, but SotA is great too :). I dont have much time for any other games.

I'm still following along. Ex-UO Chesapeake/GL player from way back in 97. I'm old enough that I've played all of the Ultima games.

I gave SOTA a break about a year ago. For an alpha it felt good and I liked where it was headed. I've come back after the final wipe and I don't feel the same about SOTA. For someone that likes to explore and kill things for the fortune and glory there's not a lot to do in the game. Bash things for a small amount of gold and sell your rusty weapon. It's annoying to see all of these housing decorations and tiaras while I'm on a broken quest killing things that still have a borked loot table.

Let's give sota some time and build it together to reclaim the UO feeling again!

    Onward!

Yes. so it took 20 years to develop to that level yes? I left UO in probably 2000 when EQ came out, went back for a bit and left when DAOC came out. I dont get how people have played it since that time.. but thats me.

    UO was still raw.

sure, 20 years later its pretty polished.

Yep me too even UO was not build in a day. I see this game coming together nicely. However one makes a mistake to compare UO with SOTA. They both have simular concepts but yet are not the same

Yeah this game definitely feels more like EQ than UO. Not that it's a bad thing, I loved EQ as well.

Still here . I can't remember which shard I started on , but I soon moved to Siege Perilous .
Later it was Angel Island freeshard .

What I miss most is my Detect Hidden/Remove Trap dungeon thief . Could barely kill a mongbat but would casually stroll among Lich Lords ;Ogre Lords etc.
Also loved the fishing and gardening .

Of all the games I've played since SotA seems the most promising to really engage me .

So lets sum it up: Lots of UO-Players are "still" here. But no, this is not UO2, it is something new. And that's really good this way. UO had some serious troubles, like PKers (which drove me away from UO). SotA got lots of ideas and concepts from the old Ultimas (all of them), but it's clearly something new. And as far as I can tell, it's on the way to be something very special in the universe of MMOs. SotA doesn't aim for the huge masses as WoW did. It's far more complex, far more social oriented and the world will be far more shaped by us players, than in many other games.
