Faster D/l of patch?

I so absolutely agree with you. I try to be patient with games still in dev. I have a lot of trust in these guys, though. No doubt that something is up with the patch server's output. But grabbing uTorrent, and using the address that was placed by the devs in that folder isn't a crazy risk. other players are offering their upload bandwidth to offer it. It was FAST. Because it was the community working together to help solve it. I agree that folks that don't know how to do that shouldn't be forced to, abso-freakin-lutely. But the game isn't in release status either. I've been quite frustrated a number of times figuring out systems and running into bugs. And then, I forgot my point. So I should stop typing. Download/patching bugs are common in early release games. That's all. Nite.

 

6 hours further on and still at 33%. Patching via the launcher is definitely broken. For me anyway...

Reinstalled the Windows Client from SotA site. Repair option, which re-installed the launcher. Started launcher again which then starts back at 33%. Now 1 hour later and got to 36%. Wow....like 3% in 1 hour.....thats tons faster than 0% in 6 hours.....

 

After 12 hours, I caved in and torrent. Took less then 5 mins to finish patching.

 

My downloading started 20 hours ago. My Windows platform is at 31%
Apple platform is at 26%
Download is averaging around 170kb (When it connects)

I refuse to use Torrent and Steam... so I will have to wait till this is solved from the source itself.

Plenty of time for TeA!!!!

What's wrong with Steam?

Using Steam, I was back in the game 15 minutes after the patch became available.

 

Thanks Khalum. I do understand the value of torrents, and thanks to everyone who chose that route and to share. I also get early release games, been at this one 33 months now. However, after a dozen or so games alpha, beta and focus tested I have never had the biggest bug be just getting the files. SotA has done this more than once now. Yes, they are a great team with HUGE potential. Yup, figured this would be taken care of before all is said and done. But, as a tester, I need to voice a complaint that it needs fixing sooner rather than later. Personally, I think the game has changed so much in the last 33 months (and I've played every release) that I would be content if R35 was nothing more than polish to the patch server and a few recipes if they have time.

BTW, total time for patch through official patch server, about 19 hours.

Nearly 24 hours and still at 49% . So my original estimate of 1.5 days needs revising to 2 days.

Did a repair of my launcher and now download is commencing. Slowly but its going. So yeah 2 hours and I am at 77%. Better than being stuck at 44 for hours. Its moving slowly for sure.

 

Repaired mine several times. Starts off again v.slow and gets exponentially slower over time. So regular restart/repair gets it going faster (if you can call 3% in 2 hours faster)

Yup same for me. I had to let it go overnight, woke up to patching error. Restart download, locked at step 3 of 6 with 50kb/s. I was getting 500 kb/s last night.

It usually takes me minutes to DL patches.. not days

 

My download seems to be at a constant 270K now.
And in the past 15 minutes its completes an additional 15% (im at 62% as of this post)
Don't know if something changed,, but its going into the right direction!!!

I never said anything was wrong with Steam.... or I'm I going MaD?!?!

at the 1.5 hour mark with the client I decided to install steam again and log in for the first time in 6 months. It took 10 minutes with steam to download and install the game. Meanwhile, at around the 4 hour mark my client finished. This was after ~4-5 restarts where I finally caught one at about 500KB (fyi, if you restart the client, it will actually come back up at some random new download speed, sometimes slower, sometimes faster).

 

Actually I had problems on downloading the patch on the qa server the other day. I should have reported it. It was moving very very slow. So I closed the launcher a few times and played with the options. Then all of a sudden it downloaded very quickly. I thought the launcher was being rebooted or was down temporarily. I failed big time in my testing. Now others had to suffer. Sorry about that.

 

Something woke me up at 4am NBT, so I checked progress.
It was a 5/6 and actually looked like it was doing something.
Got up at 6am NBT and it was done and ready to run the game.
I estimate 15 hours.

have you guys had any better luck ? yesterdays patch was less than an hour for me and todays was like 15 minutes . thats download and applying it . 483 to 484 was less than 2 minutes to download .
