Yes, some of you get to drink beer and hunker down. Some of us get to go to work and transport stragglers to shelters who wait until the last possible moment to make a decision. Anyone else in Palm Beach County other than @Fredrick FlameGrinder ??

P.S. I'm not too happy that I may not be able to logon for a week when the power goes out!

Yeah, the hurricane may land right by where I live tonight. Hopefully, there is some slow down period to let my dog out to pee for the night. I really hope I don't lose the power (for too long). Without internet, at least I can play offline mode.. Without AC in Central Florida... yucks!

I'm on the Western coast of Central FL (a bit South of Tampa) and we are getting some of the outer bands of the hurricane, but nothing beyond what we have already been getting for the past few weeks.

Only two issues for us are 1. The ground here is fairly saturated so flooding IS an issue depending on rainfall amounts and 2. Depending on the further track of the storm, if it goes back into the ocean, combines with Nikole, and heads west across the middle of the state, then yes, there will be issues here.

So far we are faring much better than we thought possible. We expect the outer wall to hit us around midnight or so, but nothing like Freeport just got.

The 5AM advisory shows the storm just south of due east of me and it will pass by, not making landfall. It's weaker, too-- a category 3 hurricane. This is better than to have it run all over me as a category 4 hurricane, which was the forecast when I went to bed last night. I still have about eight hours of heavy wind and rain to deal with then tapering off. I much prefer that as to opposed last night's forecast.

That maybe 40-50 miles from where I live. Some friends who live not far from me are losing power and house fences.

The sky started showing some clear spots as the storm is pulling the last of the clouds from the outer southwest tail northeastward about 5 hours ago or so. It was windy and heavily cloudy for most of today (10/7/16), but little or no rain, so basically like being in a big blow-dryer today where I am located.
