    Hi all

I am looking at getting a VR system and am wondering when SOTA will be VR ready. I hope very soon.

I'm sure that if Portalarium had $100M cash right now, we'd eventually see a VR enabled SotA client.

Some of my favorite gaming franchises are picking different vr systems to support I made that mistake with Star Wars and the sega 32x platform which after 6 months was dumped. That was $150 down the drain.

Not much incentive to try vr until there is one standard.

From what my housemates tell me, even VR isn't VR-ready yet, but all new tech has to start somewhere! It would certainly be fun to run around a 3D virtual Novia one day

Not totally different graphics system VR is no big problem in Unity. The question is just if they want to spend the time to do the custom HTC Vive controlls (and soon Occulus). I guess they first want to finish the game itself before they try to get VR running.

About VR not being VR ready: try some VR games with HTC or Occulus yourself. You will never get any idea of how it is by watching videos or someone telling you about it. It's actually amazing.

I have and I love it. That is why I am going to get the Occulus system and all the accessories. I am looking forward to this system of gaming.

Didn't Port drop the idea even when VR was reached as a stretch goal shortly after the Kickstarter got funded?

At the minimum, the VR support will not be part of the scope for Episode 1. It may or may not happen in Episode 2. Who knows that maybe a year or two from no, Unity 6 will support VR right out of the box and provide some magical migration tools that move Unity 5.x games to version 6 without throwing anymore memory access allocation errors once for all.

I've got the HTC Vive and I love it, but it's still missing that big game...shame that SOTA won't be it, I can only imagine just how good it could be

Yes, but just because they dropped the idea doesn't mean people won't always hope for the next new shiny toy to be added.

Maybe if enough of us nag at them, they will reconsider?

I have a trick to improve chance of reconsideration: try with some banknotes.

    Like, a lot of them.

Until they start to work on actual game and stop with the useless eye candy, they will not get much more money from me. I have invested a good bit of money into this game and have not been invited to the Developer's page. I did not buy bundles simply because they did not appeal to me. But I have a lot more invested than a good many of these bundles are worth.
So, like I said. Stop with the useless eye candy and concentrate on the game.

You'd never "be invited" to Dev+. If your pledge level includes that, you automatically have it (here on forum) or should ask for the relevant user privileges (in Discord/IRC).

I don't like eye candy either, but I DO realize that's what fuels the chance of the game being actually finished and shipped.
